THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER No, don't get too excited, this is just your occasional reminder. The Space Cowboys will be resuming play this coming Tuesday, May 29th at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. They will be competing against the Owens-Illinois "old men". Rumor has it that the 'boys actually have a chance to win this game. The "old men" have played in this league in the past and were no contest for the Cowboys. There is a Space Cowboy connection, "big Tony", the center for the "old men" played with the team for one league and he wasn't very good. **** Space Cowboys Lose **** If you are saying to yourself, "but they only play on Tuesday's", you are right, but also wrong at the same time. The Space Cowboys franchise has grown, as the expansion softball team made it's debut a week late due to a "rainout". The ball that was played was somewhat shaky, there were approxamatly seven (7) errors committed, as they went down to a defeat ten (10) to nine (9). Their next game will be this coming Friday, June 1st, at the new complex at FOPA. The time wil be forthcoming. **** News and Notes **** Space Cowboy forward, and third (3rd) baseman, Kevin Brinkman is listed day to day after a ground ball "came up" on him and jammed his finger. It is purple....If Mr. Brinkman is unable to "go" one of two "reserves" will be taking his spot. Either his brother Michael Brinkman, who has shown much improvment in the "coordination department" or his more frequently used "brother" Keith Lubbers, who has already appeared in two (2) games this season. Either way there will most likely be one (1) less "T" in the "technical foul" column....In other news, Luis Quinones was added to the roster as a possible "utility fill in" That will do it for the "mini-edition" of the Occasional Orbiter. Don't foget to come out and support the home team, this Tuesday, May 29th at 7 P.M. at Sports of All Sorts in Florence. It's bound to be an exhilarating game!
