THE OCCASIONAL ORBITER Hello fellow Cowboys of the Space variety, yes, it is time once again for your occasoinal reading. **** Space Cowboys Back to Losing Ways **** One (1) week after coming off a promising victory the Space Cowboys returned to their losing ways falling to the DJJ "thuggy thugs" eighty-two (82) to sixty-five (65). After starting the game out with some hot shooting, the home team quickly cooled off. Their early lead was lost and they started to fall behind. But just when it looked like the 'boys were falling back, they had a spark and by halftime had pulled back to within three (3) points. That without the help of forward Kevin Brinkman, who has always been known for his large mouth and this time it got him and the Space Cowboys in a little trouble. After one of his failed three (3) point attemps he lost control and could have been heard from Louisville, yelling "oh "poo"!" These totally unacceptable actions led to an immeadiate "technical foul" at a crutial juncture in the game. Luckily for the Cowboys, and Mr. Brinkman only one (1) of the two (2) foul shots attempted were successfully put through the hoop. The second half, which in the past has been a strong point for the 'boys was nothing of the sort. The "thuggy thugs" went on what seemed to be a twenty-seven (27) to zero (0) run to start the half to pretty much put the Cowboys out of the game. There was as usual a bright spot for the Space Cowboys, and it was once again the most consistent member of the team, Benjamin Keene. He had the hot hand from the floor which was made obvious when he connected on his first three (3) point shot on his first attempt of the season. Way to go Ben! **** Box Score May 21st, 2001 **** Name No. Fgm Fga 3ptm 3pta Ftm Fta TP Jeffries 24 2 10 2 7 0 0 6 Keene 44 6 10 1 1 0 0 15 Brinkman 13 4 10 3 7 0 0 11 Suedkamp 35 - - - - - - - N. They will be playing the Owens-Illinois "old men" at 7 P.M. On this team is somewhat of a former Cowboy in "big Tony". He obviously couldn't play up to the standards of the team and had to be let go after just one (1) league. Pregame festivites will begin at approxamatley 6:48. The "P.R." department is on vacation so there will be no special give aways or promotions for this basketball contest. **** News and Notes **** Space Cowboys center Keith suedkamp was once again absent from Tuesday nights game. As we here at the Orbiter have always come down hard on Mr. Suedkamp, we do feel it our job to report that he did notify the team and was unable to attend due to some sort of a "pre'pre school graduation" for his child. Congratulations Keith....Speaking of no show's, Michael Brinkman was once again not in attendance. He did however inform us here that he would miss the game once again, saying he had a commitment to his employer. No one knows when this young man will get his priorities straight, and yes, his loyalty is beyond being questioned....Speaking of loyalty, and this couldn't have been done on a better night. Mr. Brinkman, you need to take note of this. ** Long time Space Cowboy fan Nikki Lenihan has been attending the University of Louisville since the fall term. She has continued her education through the summer semester, but to the surprise of everyone, including her little "Binky Poo" (Kevin Brinkman), she made the drive up just to see the one and only Space Cowboys. The team has asked us to mention to Ms. Lenihan that they are sorry they couldn't have put on a better show for her, but they do greatly appreaciate this act of LOYALTY **....More good news: It was learned over the weekend that David Isles has been making great progress with his rehab and does hope to rejoin the team in mid June barring any setbacks. He would add a much needed "sexy body" to the lineup....Finnally, the Cowboys once again scored within their four (4) point range, with their total coming to sixty-five (65). Through their first six (6) games, the have scored from just sixty-four (64) to sixty-eight (68) points. **** Season Averages to Date **** Jeffries - Fg. 27/70 39% 3pt. 7/37 19% Ft. 4/6 67% Ppg. 9.29 Suedkamp - Fg. 22/55 40% 3pt. 0/3 0% Ft. 5/7 71% Ppg. 12.25 N.
