PANDORA'S BOX

 

                     Don't go into Pandora's box

                     unless you want to change your life;

                     unless you want a taste of misery.

 

                     There are things in Pandora's box

                     better left to themselves,

                     though maybe you've glimpsed them

                     on television or the pages of a newspaper.

 

                     Something gone terribly wrong,

                     camouflaged by a smile,

                     hidden behind the curtains

                     of an otherwise peaceful looking house.

 

                     Pandora, just a name for any number of variables

                     staring hungrily at us from the darkness.

            Inspired by the modern euphemism,
            as opposed to the originating Greek myth,
            which also offered Hope,
            though I suppose there is always hope,
            no matter how deep the darkness. :o)
