Cian's heraldic device

Cian Gillebhrath is my name within the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism), a worldwide club of medieval practices, arts, crafts and culture. The timeframe covers anything pre 1600 AD/CE that we wish to have in our romantic view of the Knowne World. This includes dancing, singing, cooking, brewing, calligraphy, royal courts, heraldry and the martial arts of sword fighting, rapier fencing and archery. Cian lives in the Barony of Stormhold (most of Melbourne) within the Kingdom of Lochac (Australia).

Cian was born in 1073 in Ireland. When he was still a wee bairn, his parents had to flee Ireland for reasons he has not yet learnt to this day. They got themselves on a boat to Scotland, but all trace of his father was lost by the time his mother entered a small village in the central highlands. Cian and his mother lived there for a few years but his mother grew sickly and eventually died when he was three. A pair of villagers took him as their son and raised him till he was mature enough to find his own way in the Knowne World.

Now many years later, Cian has travelled all over the isles and learnt much from other travellers. He has become skilled in the art of falconry and occasionally pays his way using his knowledge of tongues. It is for this reason that he is presently in the casual employment of the ship "The Flying Ypotryll" that is berthed in Stormhold.

Cian's interests are many and varied, but at present he is mainly concerned with rapier fencing. Occasionally, you may see him dancing or doing calligraphy, archery or heraldry. He has previously been the Stormhold lists officer.
