Raiders Village (Actual Name Pending) |
|
|
| The Raiders Village (actual name pending) was constructed after the
Raiders' first headquarters was destroyed in a missile assault by the
creature called Advent. Located approximately two miles north of the
resulting ruins, the village is secured much better than their former
headquarters ever was. Most of the village is composed of single-occupant huts or adjoining cabins. The structure in the center of the village is the Command Center and houses a conference hall, a cafeteria/lounge, a kitchen, and a storage area on the first floor. The conference hall itself was renovated to make room for a large table with personalized seats for all the Raiders' active agents, including emblems set in the table at each seat. Hanging on the walls are sigils set into shields commemorating fallen and missing Raiders. The security main hub is located on the first sub-level and is connected via underground hardlines to their security outposts. Beneath this sublevel is a monorail station, a hidden transport system that leads to the sublevels of the old headquarters which remained more or less intact when the building went down. Other non-residential buildings in the village includes the Barracks, a two-story (and one sub-level) structure that houses all non-agent Raiders personnel. There is also the Gym, just across the village from the Barracks. South of the Command Center is the Marketplace, a market run by a few trusted Elendil merchants who frequently make supply runs for the Raiders. Here you can barter for new goods or sell old ones. In a field to the north of the Command Center is a helipad for airships. In terms of appearance, the village can be very misleading. There are no real paths between buildings, there are several trees, and all the buildings look like outdated wood-and-stone constructions. Beneath their rustic exteriors, however, all the buildings are made of steel and cement and come equipped with all the modern conveniences anyone could want. In terms of security, the village is almost unparalleled. A complex magical array composed of Tolarian, Lunari and Aegien magic keeps the village surrounded by a barrier that confounds unwanted visitors. Extending a mile in all directions from the center of the village, this barrier serves multiple purposes. First, it renders the area invisible to the naked eye - even satellite imagery will show nothing but forest when focused on the village. Second, it gently repels intruders in a way that they are not even aware of - they simply end up walking away from the village when their intent was to walk towards it. Third, it provides a barrier against small magic attacks. Because most of the power is used for the first two features, this barrier is not very strong, but to break it one has to know where it is - a problem encountered due to the second security feature. This array only needs to be charged once every ninety days, a bargain considering the protection it affords. Authorized personnel need only to have a magical mark placed upon them to let the array identify them to avoid the hassle of dealing with the barriers. In addition to the magical array, more mundane security features have been or are being installed as well. Located periodically near the edge of the barrier are several command posts with hardlines running to the security center. These posts are small, normally a building with a computer setup, a bathroom, and a bed (used by off-duty guards on two-person night shifts). There are also several cameras being set up in the forest around the village, ensuring that no one will approach the village unannounced. Guard parties periodically sweep the borders as well, armed with both dampener rifles and ballistic weapons. Anti-missile systems have even been installed, hidden around the grounds. All things considered, the Raiders Village is a safe, secure area for the Raiders to work out of. |
