The Empire of Nekohl, as reported by Uberwulf X |
| The Empire of Nekohl (EON) is made of the land combined by
three different joined feline clans. These three different clans are the
Rath, Oasis, and Station. The Rath was primarily made of Russian Blues,
the Oasis was known for its [eastern cat]s, and the Stations held a high
Siamese count. The clans respectively held the north, west, and east
lands of what is currently known as EON. As was the way of things, the
different clans usually found themselves over some dispute or another
about land or the irrigation of a river that would disrupt its own
clan's lifestyle. According to the Nekohlian calender, it was 483 WitchSpring that the generation of respective leaders all decided that they were tired of the fighting, and the best way to gain more land was to simply combine all three land holdings. It would be another three years (486 WitchFall) until the proper treaties and alliances were secured, but it was then that the three clans were able to all stand under one large banner. The government style did not change much. The clans each had their own leader ("Domino"), who was promoted to a King and ascended to the Trifecta, the trinity of leaders governing EON, when their clan's King passed. This meant that there were three kings and a large, singular advisory committee beneath them. Though advisors weren't selected according to clan and rather on merit, they did to look out for their own clan's well being. Sometime in 790 WitchFall, the clans were at each other's throats and and the War of Vector Sect broke out. The civil war brought misery to all, for it was a total war. The official story is that the Rath Domino, Vector Sect, planned to remove the other two Dominos and Kings, putting the Rath clan in the seat of power. Though some swore loyalty to his cause, not all were truthful in it and reported the planned coup to their leaders. Enraged, the other two clans pulled from the treaty and they, along with unsuspecting Raths, trusted nobody outside of their own clan. The war lasted only half a year, since it was their own land that was being ravaged. The Trifecta and Council all agreed that the best way to diffuse this conflict before the land was torn beyond repair and any chance at peace was out of grasp was to remove Vector Sect from the picture. The Domino was captured, and the order for all sides to disarm was given. Vector Sect's coat was dyed an unnatural color for his race, clearly marking him and making him lose the blue-grey color that Russian Blues were proud of. As further punishment, he had his voice silenced and was to be publicly executed by his clan (to further remove the taint of a traitor in their ranks) after being questioned on why he would dare tear apart the peace the land had gained. The only story he offered was that he was innocent and there was a conspiracy to usurp power, but it was by militant radicals from the three clans who were tired of Trifecta rule. Their alleged plan was to have the clans tearing at each other, and the faction would rise to power and make peace under their rule. He overheard the plan and was going to report it to the Trifecta and fellow Dominos, but he'd underestimated the speed and precision of the plan- he never had a chance to speak before his true friends warned him that he was the center of much controversy. He had no evidence of any of this as his friends were allegedly killed between the faction and the war. However, he managed to escape the jail and went into hiding. Bounty hunters were sent for him, but none returned. The last bounty hunter sent was Rune Dair- after he didn't return, EON stopped looking for him and began to rebuild itself with a new hope for peace. ---Power Structure--- The class ladder goes from commoner < clan chieftain < Domino < King < Council < Trifecta. It's a mixture between clan, fiefdom, and parliament rule where the parliament’s word is final. One could see it as a city/state/country system. Anyone without a rank is considered a commoner, whether a merchant, farmer, laborer, soldier or any of the other jobs- this keeps the social structure steady so that soldiers don't think themselves higher than merchants (soldiers defend the land, but merchants carry the goods that feed the soldiers; thusly both are equally dependant on everyone else). Only criminals are given ranks lower than this; there are no slaves. There are a number of chiefs that regulate the activities of the clan. They may be immersed in guiding people to work where their abilities are needed, handling small disputes of property, or be a part of anything else that a Domino asks from them- the actual titles and departments of chieftains vary from clan to clan, though agriculture, jobs, labor, and justice are always covered.Historically, the Domino is high on charm, fighting skill, and military knowledge. A Domino oversees the activities of the chieftains and acts as the middleman between the chieftains and Kings, reporting activity and numbers every third day unless there is a crisis that calls for a report to come sooner than that. Dominos ascend to the rank of "King" when the current king representing that clan dies, at which time he is sent to live and rule all with the Trifecta. Counselors are appointed either by kings or other counselors, and may be removed by majority vote in both parties. |
