The Lost Tribe |
| Long ago, far beyond the creation of the Element Island, there
existed a civilization that spread across Mobius known as the Lunari.
They were a tribe of wolves, dedicated to beauty and knowledge. They
built great cities and gave birth to a great culture, one that rivaled
the other civilizations of the ancient world. The Lunari practiced a form of magic that came to be known as Summoning. Through a variety of mediums such as hand signs, incantations and symbolic markings, they were able to call forth the spirits of nature to aid them in their pursuit of enlightenment. They were not a violent people, but this power gave them an unbreakable defense against invaders. As their empire, born of uniting their people with nature, spread, their powers increased. Eventually, the original wolf-born heritage began to fade as inter-species marriages and births grew more and more common. Soon the Lunari became a culture of all creatures, furthering their dreams of unity and peace. To focus their growth and create a more efficient way to pursue knowledge, the various species of the Lunari spread across Mobius, each forming their own segment of their great civilization in all the lands of their world with the center formed of the ancient wolves, the most powerful and wise of the Lunari tribe. The disaster that later fell upon the Lunari is one that has never been fathomed. All that is known is that something occurred that threatened all of Mobius. The Lunari population began to rapidly decline, forcing them to take action that would later destroy themselves and leave little trace of their great culture. From all across Mobius, the most powerful of Lunari Summoners came. The High Priestess Gaea, of the forest-dwelling Lunari Hedgehogs. ArchPriest Cain, of the hot-tempered Lunari Echidnas. Lady Imbrium, of the mammalian Lunari Merfolk. Sky Priest Kaios, of the Lunari Hawks. Lord Thanatos of the Lunari foxes. Together, they came together under the call of Grand Priest Eldamri of the Lunari Wolves. Meeting in the center of their civilization, the Temple of Ages, they began the grand work of containing the disaster that had befallen themselves and indeed, all of Mobius. Together, they called forth the great spirits of nature and begged their aid. The spirits answered their call. The priests were elevated to such heights of power their people had never known. Together, they formed an island that soared the heavens, imbued with the powers of nature. This island revolved around an powerful sentient emerald and through its power, as well as those of the Lunari Priests, the new land became a prison that would contain the great disaster. Through their efforts, Mobius was saved, but their own culture hovered on the brink of extinction. War broke out among their borders as the Lunari were invaded by other Mobian tribes. The priests who had averted the disaster and who became gods with their power still retained the love of their people. They brought to their new land, called Tolaria after a holy word in their language, Lunari of every species to inhabit it. Some refused to leave their homelands and many of those who stayed later were destroyed. Through these events, the island of Tolaria was born and the civilization of the Lunari fell. But that is not all there is. The land that housed the Temple of Ages, the land that was home to the Lunari Wolves, was invulnerable to attack. The temple became home of the last of the ascending Lunari, Eldamri. He foretold that the disaster contained within Tolaria would one day break free of their containment and directed his people to create a device that would put an end to it before it could put an end to them. Whether this device was ever created has been lost to the mists of time. Centuries past and histories unfolded. The blood of the Lunari began to fade from Tolaria, though a few villages across Mobius managed to hold on to their heritage. One such village would eventually come in contact with Tolaria and through their reunion would come a time of great prosperity that would end in great darkness. Mobius has forgotten their children, the Lunari. But only time will tell if their children forget their world. |
