New Page 1

Bestiary

The Raiders have encountered a variety of strange creatures, fighting both alongside and against them. As a one-stop resource for identifying those creatures on the fly, this page was created. Below are several of the unique species the Raiders have encountered, as well as some examples of the most familiar sentient species. These examples are marked Current Generation (CG) and Next Generation (NG) to specify where that character can be found on the Raiders timeline.

Armored Bears
Type: Anthro Sub-Type: Physical
Appearance: Traditional polar bear anthros. Their name comes from the gleaming armor they wear in battle and in rituals.
Notes: Armored Bears are exceptional strong and tough - you don't need to know much more than that. They typically prefer to be left along inside their caves, deep inside the Ice Mountains, but when the island is threatened, they'll grudgingly lend their aid. In battle, the only thing you should know is to get out of their way.
Notable Examples: Iorek (CG)

Echidhogs
Type: Anthro Sub-Type: Variable
Appearance: Colors and markings reflect common Mobian variety. Most echidhogs have both dreadlocks and quills, echidna-like muzzles, and short, hedgehog-like tails. Stomach spots are common but not always present.
Notes: In Raiders experiance, echidhogs are an unnatural species. Most that have been encountered exist due to mystical or technological tampering. On Tolarian, a common myth purports that the birth of an echidhog heralds the coming of tumultuous times.
Notable Examples: Hardrive (CG), Aidan (NG), Mirrai (NG)

Dark Soltari
Type: Mystic Sub-Type:  Dark (Variable)
Appearance: Dark Soltari typically have dark bodies through which swirling stars can vaguely be seen. Their eyes are usually either yellow or red. Their hair is typically dark-colored.
Notes: Dark Soltari are similar in nature and ability to Shadow Beasts. Unlike Shadow Beasts, though, Dark Soltari can be formed of elemental influences. Some have even developed unique abilities all their own, but all possess the power to wield Dark energy.

Kitsunes
Type: Anthro Sub-Type: Variable
Appearance: Kitsunes are always neo-anthro in size and shape. They tend to have multiple tails and an extra joint in their lower legs, much like non-anthro foxes.
Notes: Kitsunes, as a species, tend to draw mystic energies to themselves. Their nature actually promotes the use of magic and so Kitsune mages are usually extremely powerful.
Notable Examples: Arisa (CG), Sylex (CG)

Merfolk
Type: Human/Anthro Sub-Type:  Water
Appearance: Traditional Mobian merfolk are human from the waist up and possess a long caudal fin from the waist down.
Notes: Merfolk special abilities are varied. Jenni has shown that they are capable of a small degree of shapeshifting, but they must return to their natural form and bathe in water quite frequently. They also possess a wide range of aquatic abilities.
Notable Examples: Jenni (CG), Bright (NG)

Nakalings
Type: Mystic Sub-Type:  Dark
Appearance: Nakalings are impish creatures created by Nakamaro to serve specific purposes. As such, they have no natural form, but instead appear in a manner best fit for their task. One common element among them all is the use of a color scheme similar to Nakamaro and the recurring Eye pattern originally worn by Nakamaro.
Notes: Nakalings can be annoying little beasts but they aren't too difficult to handle. They're more substantial than Shadow Beasts but not as powerful as Dark Soltari. Handle with care, though, since their abilities can vary.

Onikage
Type: Beast Sub-Type: Dark (Shadow)
Appearance: No direct visual confirmation has ever been made, but information indicates they are reptile-like with insectoid bodies featuring multiple legs. They also possess sharp fangs and a barbed tail.
Notes: Onikage, in their natural form, possess a poisonous bite that inflicts Shadow Sickness, a degenerative condition that can only be cured by a salve made from the Black Orchid flower. Onikage possess a strange ability in which they are able to feed off of the dying and change form into a copy of whatever they feed upon. Their physical body is theorized to be made of mystic energy, and as such, they are vulnerable to dampener attacks and dampener fields. In this form, an Onikage can learn mystical abilities, though their natural immunity to most forms of magic render the learning of mystical abilities extremely difficult. Onikage also possess speed, strength and durability that exceed those of the common anthro. They are also resistant to all but the most extreme temperature changes. Thankfully, they can only be found in the Land of Shadows.
Notable Examples: Loki (CG)

Saint Beast
Type: Mystic Sub-Type: Spirit
Appearance: Saint Beasts possess no physical bodies. Their visible body is similar to that of an insect crossed with a manta ray, translucent and threaded with multicolored 'veins.'
Notes: Saint Beasts exist on a different plane of existence and such cannot be fought physically or magically. They are drawn to mystical power and feed off of it, duplicating themselves as a result of exposure. They are extremely dangerous but currently reside in the Holy Grounds, watched over by the Soltari.

Shadow Beast
Type: Mystic Sub-Type:  Dark (Shadow)
Appearance: Vaguely anthro-shaped and composed of solidified shadow. Possess sharp claws and teeth, as well as glowing amber-colored eyes.
Notes: Shadow Beasts are born in the Dark Realm and only appear due to summoning or through rents in reality. They can only exist at night and are strengthened by darkness. Physically speaking, they are quick but not very strong or durable, making them relatively easy to destroy in direct conflict. However, they are able to possess those weak of will and feed of negative emotions. This added strength can alter their appearance. They cannot exist in sunlight and are tremendously vulnerable to Spirit Energy.

Soltari
Type: Mystic Sub-Type: Cosmic
Appearance: Soltari are ephemeral creatures with no physical bodies, strictly speaking. They do have visible bodies, though, and their bodies depict the vastness of space filled with swirling stars, usually with a faint blue tint. Both their eyes and hair are white. They have elongated ears but no mouth or nose. They also possess only three fingers on their hands.
Notes: Soltari were once Tolarian mages who fought in the First Elemental War under the leadership of Urza. The energy used during the war eventually pushed them onto an entirely new plane of existence. Now, these immortal creatures keep watch over the Holy Grounds, the resting place of the Twilight Crystal. They protect it but are notorious for being observers who seldom interfere in the affairs of others. For this reason, their true power has never been estimated, but apparently they are strong enough to fend of Saint Beasts.

Tolarian Merfolk
Type: Anthro Sub-Type:  Water
Appearance: Tolarian merfolk are extremely different than their Mobian counterparts. Their upper body is human in shape only, as they also have fins sprouting from their forearms and the back of their heads. Their ears are pointed and their skin rubbery and varying in color from aquamarine to azure. They also have black markings all over their body.
Notes: Tolarian Merfolk have long been thought to be mythical. However, during the Exodus, their presence was revealed, though they remain quite reclusive. Like Mobian merfolk, they possess shape-shifting abilities, and often times disguise themselves as normal anthros when they venture out of water. However, they can only adopt one anthro form when shapeshifting, so the decision to leave the water, however briefly, is not made lightly.
Notable Examples: Stargazer (CG)

Xenomorph
Type: Alien Sub-Type: Chaos
Appearance: Xenomorphs posses short, bristly white fur that covers their entire body. They have no tail and slitted reptilian nostrils. Their almond-shaped eyes usually have black irises with either red or yellow pupils. Their bodies are usually marked by translucent blue tattoos. They have exposed ears and long dreadlock-like tendrils that emerge from the back of their heads.
Notes: While the term 'Xenomorph' can be applied to any alien species, in this case it refers to the creatures created by the ancient space-faring humans. These creatures exist in three varieties: male, female, and asexual. They typically posses psychic abilities, though the power of these abilities are variable. Also, those cloned from Karasu's DNA also possess Chaos-based powers and the ability to shapeshift, a result of their liquid Chaos blood and unstable genetic structure. As a note, Advent was male and Karasu, asexual. In Next Generation plays, Alex is asexual and Kin is female.
Notable Examples: Karasu/Scion (CG), Advent (CG), Alex/Progeny (NG), Kin (NG)
