Tarapoto is a beautiful city nestled between the Cumbaza and Shilcayo river valleys in the Province of San Mart�n. The weather is warm and dry in the summer and humid during the rainy season with a mean temperature of 28 to 34�C. Known as the �City of Palm Trees�, Tarapoto has a very busy and modern international airport serviced daily by major airlines.

The Ahuashiyacu Falls located 14 Km. from the city in an area of dense vegetation. The falls can be reached by land in approximately 30 minutes.
Laguna de Sauce located 52 km. on the right side of the Huallaga river banks. The lake can be reached by land in approximately 2 hours; it can also be reached by air.
Cumbaza RiverLocated to 5 km. Of the city, located by the side of the same name's river.
Lamas Ubicada a 25 km. de la ciudad de Tarapoto, el turista puede encontrar a los ind�genas Lamistas, el visitante puede preciar sus casas t�picas sin ventanas, lo que evita el ingreso de los esp�ritus malos; pueden probar el "Metalillo", una greda que es costumbre de los Lamistos comer y las mujeres se visten con sus polleras y adornos hechos a mano. Lamas cuenta con un museo cultural donde el visitante recibir� la explicaci�n detallada de costumbres e historia, tambi�n podr� comprar la artesan�a que producen.
