| The photo was taken near the town of Vanderkloof, which is located in the Northern Cape Province in the Republic of South Africa. This is only one photo of many that were taken on a small private farm. There are many other rocks that have a large variety of animal life depicted on them. The rock here is about 5 ft long. Above it is another containing pictures of hippos, alligators, ostriches, and a rhino. Send me an email if you would like me to upload more photos of these very unusual, and well proserved rock art. The pictures were pounded into the stone by the Bushmen of the Kalihari region around 10,000 years ago. |
