I was born to the screams of the insane. More specifically, I was born in The Deerpark Sanitarium in St. Helena, California. My mother was not insane, at least not legally so. From what I have been told, the maternity ward at the hospital was full, but the one at the sanitarium was available. Thus the first sounds that I heard were, you guessed it, the screams of the insane. Well, actually I don't know about that, but that is where I was born. You may be wondering where St. Helena is. It is located in the heart of wine country in California's Napa Valley.
Over the years I have moved at least 150,450 times. I began my life in St. Helena, but actually, I have no idea why. (Other than being born there of course). As far as I know, my family has no connection to the Napa Valley, maybe there is something I don't know. Anyway, so my first recollections are of our house in Windsor, California. From there we moved to a house in Santa Rosa, California, and I spent a few years there. I think that was the last place that I have lived for more than a year until my current location. We moved from there to Sweden, to Goteborg to be exact, There we lived in one of those huge commie lookin apartment complexes, complete with schools, parks, malls etc all enclosed within the complex. It was a very interesting place to live. From there we moved to Lund, also in Sweden. There we lived in another commie apartment complex. Then we moved from there to Snallerods Kvarn, which is also in Sweden. Snallerods Kvarn was only three buildings. The one we lived in was a 200 year old stone blockhouse grinding mill.Complete with water wheels, grinding stones, three ft thick stone walls, and rats the size of dogs in the attic. For a long time rats scared the pants off of me. The other buildings were an old brewery and an old candy factory. People lived in each of them.
Ultimately we left Sweden and returned to the US, to Santa Rosa, California again. There we lived in various places until we moved to Sebastopol, California,, about twenty miles from Santa Rosa. There my family lived until I moved out and moved back to Santa Rosa. Then I lived on the Russian River for a while, in a place called Rio Nido. Actually classified as a hamlet-I didn't know we had hamlets in the US. From there I moved to Oahu, Hawaii. let me tell you that was a boring place to live. And from there, back to Santa Rosa again, and onward to College in Davis, California after that. Once college ended, I moved to Medford Oregon for a while, then to the Oregon Coast. The town of Newport is where I lived, and let me tell you, unless you like wind and rain all the time, ten times more tourists than people that live there, and stinking sewage plants. DON'T EVER MOVE THERE. IN FACT-DON'T EVEN GO THERE!!!! I MEAN IT!!!
Once I got thoroughly sick of Oregon's beautiful, but ultimately crappy coast I moved to Colorado Springs. By the way, Newport just happens to also be located at a place where Captain Cook landed, and he dubbed the place Cape Foulweather-wonder why. So, onward to Colorado Springs, and then (for a job) I moved to Englewood, Colorado-a suburb of Denver, and very near to Littleton where Colombine High School is. Consequently, that was the third school shooting that I have lived within fifty miles of. Thus I am one of those people that think that the high schools (and the students) are totally out of control. I know that I have a bias, but that is the way I am.
Okay, so I lived in Englewood for a year, then I took a job with Oracle Corporation, and then moved back down to Colorado Springs, which is where I still reside. I currently live alone in a two bedroom apartment in the heart of Colorado Springs. I would very much like to move somewhere warmer, and preferably where there are fireflies. I have always had a passion for the little guys, and I would love to live in the same areas as they do. I have only seen them once, and that was on my trip to Nashville last June. The states that I am thinking of relocating too are Florida, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Hawaii. My heart is not necessarily set on moving, nor is it set on one of those locations either. I am just tired of moving and I want to settle down somewhere and not have to move again.
Man Can I Move or What?
Well I DID IT!!! I moved to Florida-to Orlando to be exact. Took guts and courage, and a hell of a lot of driving but I am here now and I ain't leavin.
