Social Welfare Girls Training Center
Background
The
home was established as Home for Girls in 1945, by the vigilance society. It was
handed over to the Department of Social Welfare in 1962. Its objective is to
provide protection, care and development of girls under 16 years of age in
accordance with the Child Law 1993.
Field
Report
We were given rousing performances in traditional Burmese dance by the girls of the Institute. We were taken on a tour of the home and taught the younger girls aged 5 – 12 songs. S$400, together with iron and folate tablets were donated to the home.
