Myaing Thar Yar Rural Health Center

Location

It is located at Kyauktan Township, about 45 miles south of Yangon along the Yangon river.

Catchment area

As part of the local healthcare system, the Myaing Thar Yar RHC comes under the charge of the Kyauktan Township Hospital. It serves an area of 42 square miles consisting of 20 villages, 7 village tracts, 3,394 households and a population of 16,782.

Human resource

The RHC is run by 1 Health Assistant, 1 Lady Health Visitor, 5 mid-wives and 5 Public Health Supervisors.

Field Report

We were taken on a tour of a village under the service of the RHC and were given the opportunity to carry out 5 IMCI surveys at selected households. A translator was present during our interviews. We were also allowed to explore the household of our interviewees.
