Background
1. The Ministry of Health consists of 5 departments: Health, Medical Sciences, Medical Research, Planning and Statistics and Traditional Medicine.
2. Under the Department of Health, Public Health services is responsible for provision and delivery of primary health services.
3. At township level, a township medical officer or TMO is responsible for both public health and curative services.
4. Each township has one hospital with a bed strength varying from 16 to 50, one or two station hospitals and four to seven rural health centers.
