Calculus Girl
By: Henry Zhao
Everyday
when she walked down the stairs,
carrying those thick, heavy books,
There she is! would jump into my mind.
She would always bite her lip as if she was still pondering over her last derivative
Her eyes would dive into space
and yet her face still showed eagerness
to run into Mr. Lamb and ask him
the questions that raced through her head.
Her wavy hair bounced as she
skipped down the tiny steps in the staircase
towards her next class.
Sometimes she would susurrate to a friend,
but what was she saying?
She pranced by every day so mysteriously,
and poured millions of questions into my head.
I desired to know the images and thoughts that exploded in her perplexing mind.
I craved her life story and determined to dive into
the pool of mystery that enshrouded her world.
As I became more and more curious about her,
I wanted to ask her billions of questions, but first of all,
what was her name?
