The Commonwealth of Kentucky is broke.
Is this because you failed to pay your taxes? No, it is because inept legislators, and a morally bankrupt governor in Frankfort think your taxes belong to them. Boone County, Kentucky, is flush with money. Does this mean your taxes go down? No, these good people plan to use your money to build an "infrastructure" (whatever that is) to try to draw upper income ($150,000+) people to our county (who will be ripe for even higher taxes), in the meantime exercising a callous disregard for the people already here. In a phrase, they plan to run the poor people out of Boone County. Think!, this is not the time to remain politically inactive.
This is the time to let the County Lords know that we will topple them before their new constituency gets entrenched. It does not make sense to bring new people here, (at least to non-politicians) just because they have more money than the rest of us; let them remain as pillars of their own communities in other states and other areas of the Commonwealth. Certainly their taxes are needed there more than here; we don't need more "stylishly squalid" subdivisions littering the ground, making once-green Boone County, look like some enormous housing project, creating over-crowded roads, fat politicos, and unprincipled builders feeding off the community like vampire leeches.
Question your tax bill. Make them answer your questions. Go to the tax office armed with facts; do not let them convince you that your tax bill jumped $300.00 this year because your property values went up. How do they know what it would sell for, especially if you intend to stay here? Just because native Boone countians are friendly means we need every stray ex-yuppie in the United States who happens to make at least 150,000 dollars a year. Their ill-bred undisciplined spawn fill our schools, teach our children their value-free world views, and drive around in their pollution spewing big-wheeled vehicles like they owned the (already much too crowded) roads.
Is this what you want? Don't you think it is time to wake up and let the masters in Burlington and Frankfort know that you have had enough? No new taxes, no "Tax Reform" — unless it really does mean lower taxes — both tax rates and alleged property values (but don't count on it unless you act in concert with others). No more government interference in your life. Wipe the slate clean this year: Don't vote for any incumbent. No politician is clean enough to make it unsullied through a second term. Think, Vote, Question. Be a good citizen and help future generations by refusing to let the government oppress you.
