Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock" (1955) the first important breakthrough for white rock 'n' roll bands in this country. What appealed to this new young audience, accustomed to the relatively bland TIN PAN ALLEY brand of popular music, was rock 'n' roll's driving dance rhythms, its direct, adolescent-level message, and its suggestion of youthful rebellion.

This picture of the band was taken in 1952

Bill Haley's Comets were the first Rock'n'Roll Band. Since 1952 they have sold over 80 million records for leading labels such as Decca, MCA, Warner Brothers, Sonet and Essex.
