I shall now enlighten you as to the events that transpired in the year of our Lord 2004...
Melanie & Lonnie's wedding was Sat 4/24 in Chattanooga. Their ceremony was short & very sweet. The reception had live Cetic musicians. (Melanie does SCA costumes & these were some of her buddies.) Lonnie did not faint or puke, which were my 2 worried for him. He looked good in brown & smiled & giggled. All positive signs. The happy couple also promised to go rafting/canoeing/hiking with us again, gang, now that the wedding costs have been met. HURRAH!
My allergies are irritating me. The Clinique counter girl was startled when she saw my eyes, and she asked what I needed to turn in for an exchange or refund. Gaak! I be scary..and scaly. :( The neighbor's psycho-cat is hassling Ginny & Pewter, even under their own bird feeder. Next time, psycho, it's the broom upside your head. Scat.
Sunday I helped Randy fold, tape & mutilate the Southern Fandom newsletter. It's for science fiction fans. I got a free lunch out of the deal.
The kittens were super-affectionate on the 17th. Five nights in the vet's boarding kennel will do that to 'ya.
Sat Feb 21, vineyard trip was cancelled bec the "the vines are resting." SO! On to the 3 Caves trail on Monte Sano. We should have 6-8 participants. Hope they remembered their flashlights.
Feb 7, 2004, we wise 4 attended the Dead Sea Scrolls travelling exhibit. Definitely worth the $15/person price. Hubby liked the illuminated pages best; the staff distributed magnifying lenses to help us appreciate the detailing on such a small scale.
Einstein lead singer had to cancel the performance scheduled Friday, Feb 20 & Sat the 21st at Tunes on University Drive.
2004 began with a 5 hour couch potato session. We watched the USA network's Monk marathon. Blam-blam loves this show. He's so funny when he laughs partially-chomped particles of Chex Mix over the kittens's pointy heads.
Jan 3: All-night board game party. 8 folks, 2 gaming groups. Whee! 1 pal gave me a groovy Rubic's Cube from the NY City museum. Yes, a travel toy!
Jan 4: visited HSV art museum. Saw Anime, Through the Needle's Eye & Art of Soldier exhibits. Liked 'Art' best; a very extensive collection. 3 items were in my history textbooks, except these are the originals. Whoa. 'Through' is award-winning embroidery art pieces. This ain't ya mamaw's embroidery class, honey!
Jan 9 & 10: 1970s cover band Einstein rocked the crowd at Tunes. Next jam session is Feb 20th. HOH, who shared the night playing with Einstein, covers current harder-sounding rock, like Korn.
The Brick in Decatur, AL, is a fun gathering spot after 7pm. Musicians have to tinker with their sound equipment, though, due to the room's looo-oo-ong main room. Otherwise the sound gets a little fuzzy 4 tables near the door.
Jan 22 Chinese New Year at New China Buffet, Jordan Lane.
BLEH! Other than the sushi bar, bleh bleh bleh. China Town (Decatur) kicks this HSV restaurant's hinny. BL-EH bl-eh bl-eh.
Since it's the year of the Monkey, we discussed what 'mental enhancing activity' we hope/plan to do this year. Monkey years are excellent years for mental improvement. Some will take a class at HSV Art museum; 1 of us will read a noteworthy nonfiction book he got as a gift, while another is reviewing parenting how-to books. One plans to attend many more science fiction conventions & meet new people who are unlike him; that's his classroom--the world. One will attend personal safety classes; evil doers beware! Some acquired personal trainers bec a healthier body is the 1st step to a healthier mind.
I have such great friends.
