Tournament Yahooed !!!! - Boo-Hoo !!

12/11/99

What an awful day at Yahoo!!! The DOGS arrived snarling and growling and looking for any CAT in sight. The CATS were there as well, purrrfectly happy to claw their way into the record books with yet another victory. We are CATS announced one team as they registered. Then another, and another. The cats were bringing out all the weapons. A pair proudly barked the request to enter them as DOGS. More and more DOGS joined the pack. We are headed for a real battle here I thought. Felden called from the other room, "I can't get on". Oh my, Yahoo'd again. "Keep trying", I told her, "this could be a record night".

We passed 8 tables before 3:40 and it looked like we were heading for not only a great battle but the biggest one so far. More CATS came in, then more DOGS. Strangers who had never been in the battle before had come to join in. One newcomer announced he was sent here by an ailing RAT to seek revenge. He wanted to be on the DOGS. Felden still couldn't get on.

Myrna was the first to announce the ominous cloud. "Little Swan is having trouble - I may need a sub".

A message from Realbetis said "Dave - I am having awful lag problems".

Another team signed up, that makes 12 tables, a record. More messages come in. Two teams are knocked out. Where did they go? Yahoo heaven I guess. We set the pairings for the first round and everyone got under way. We were down to 11 tables. Jin sends a message - "I need a sub on 6" - another sub needed on 5. Happy says "Dave, where did our opps go?"

I looked at my monitor to see names flashing on and off in one room then another. Of 11 tables, only 4 were all playing. No, I spoke too soon, there goes Kenny. Mike is now gone for good. When we reached 4:45, four of the tables had not yet played one hand. Another had just gotten all four players at the table at the same time.

For the first time, Yahoo beat us. We had to cancel the tournament. We will be back next week though and I have a feeling most of the teams will want to jump right back into it.

You don't suppose any RATS were gnawing on the Yahoo wires or anything do you?

Please give us another try next week.

Dave

The Ryder standings are unchanged for the week.
