Let’s keep terrorism away from us, and animosities, real or imagined away from Ryder
I think so many of us have experienced so much sadness in this past week, sadness that we neither wanted nor asked for. Ryder is a place where we gather to have fun and play cards and enjoy happy talk between rounds. Let’s set aside our petty differences, and play with or against anyone that your host or hostess assigns you to. There are more new people hosting Ryder quite often now, and their job is hard enough without having to worry about how the teams line up. On that note, be gracious to all, on with the games.
Well now folks, today was the day to be sure, those "stinky felines" to quote the dogs – lol, well they had their day again YAWZER, YAWZER. What a day it was, oh my, lol. As a matter of fact, to quote another hostess’ saying, they caused a catatstrophic time, but the dogs, well, so help me, they fought so hard in the last round and almost made a come back, but alas, it was in vain. I send my commiserations to my likeable pup friends.
It all started so peaceful, until your hostess realized she had goofed, she didn’t write down the teams side by side and ended up cause a dog team to play as a cat team and vice versa. The shame of it all. So then she just wanted to run into the office and hide but that’s just a no no. We persevered to bigger and better mistakes. But the cats had this image of themselves, so what can a poor pup do..
At any rate, even tho the dogs got a 6H slam, the cats won round one by a score of 8 to 3. Talk about caterwauling and doggerel last week, those kitties rubbed the pups’ noses in it, for shame. End of Round 1 and on with the hissing and growling, lol. Thanks to Petunia who jumped in and subbed for Meanole_Dog in round one and finished off the day with Betterduck.
Well I’ll be darned if it didn’t happen again – the dogs got another 6H slam (different team this round) and the cats still ended up 8 to 3 winners for Round 2. Catwitch jumped in whenever someone got yahooed to keep the matches rolling in all 3 rounds, many thanks witch. Kippers ran into some problems and Border jumped in and subbed with Pomfredt, who always manages to land on his four paws or is that forepaws when it comes to having subs, lol. Many thanks Border and Kipper, I just included all 3 of them as one team, not knowing for sure if Kipper could get back.
So now, we had a total score of 16 for the cats, 6 for the dogs, and boy were they howlingggggggggggggggggggg, I mean a regular uproar (er excuse me pups, but I didn’t want to say snivel).
So now we headed for the final round amidst much yeaing and booing. Your hostess starting pairing opps of first game again in the 3rd round. Oy Vey, had to back track and throw teams against each and pray that she didn’t repeat anyone. Then she slunked into the office to try to figure out her mess and make sure that at least the totals were right.
One by one the scores came in and it looked like those pups were gonna take over, another cliff hanger for the last two teams. If the dogs won the last 2, they could tie and everyone would win, but the cats had a 6NT slam in the last round, and one dog team lost which reinforced the cat win for the day. The dogs took 7 games to 4 for Round 3, but the final outcome was 24 pts for the cats and 20 for the dogs.

Now our supersubs were Petunia, Catwitch, and Border. Those on hand watching and willing to jump in or rooting for friends were:
