Well, they say every dog must have its day, so I guess the dogs got even with last week’s cat win, and they were slobbering and yapping and dancing a jig on their hind legs after Saturday’s game. Actually, they were almost crowing like roosters, just the way they were strutting around.

Well, once again your very lucky hostess had the great help and support of her beloved Moose, and oh, my Moose was so good to me. I ran into a couple of problems at home, but thank gosh I could rely on Moose who is fast becoming the love of my life.

Anyway, let's get on with the games. In the first round it started out with the dogs were gonna win, boy were they boasting. They must have been watching Marmaduke prance around, cause I swear to gosh, I never saw so many puppy paws strutting so high. The score was 9 to 6 and the cats and dogs each got 1 slam. But boy, did those pups prance and howl and CROW. I didn’t know dogs could crow so well. Shows to go ya, you learn something new every day, I swear.

Now the lines were drawn and the cats decided enuf is enuf and sharpened their claws. The hisses were starting and the growls were returned. Now the cats got another small slam in this round too, and lo and behold, they were on the comeback trail. The doggerel and caterwauling continued as each win poured in. By the end of the second round, I’ll be darned if it didn’t turn out that the cats got 9 and the dogs got 6, so now we had a tie score after the 2^nd round again this week of 15-15.

Well, that was it, everyone was putting up their Paws and Claws and the challenge was in full swing. It seemed like I couldn’t even turn around or try to slip into the office and some canines or felines were getting slams, yepper, truly turning into a cliff hanger. Can you believe – there were 7 slams in that last round, not a word of a lie. And oh my, the score was so close with dogs ahead at first, then cats catching up, then cats ahead, then dogs catching up, and then, and then, and then…. After 14 tables the score was tied 29-29 with one table remaining. Now all of a sudden there was an onslaught of people, puppies, kitties and who knows what descending on Lorainew/mickifinn vs Alanmitchell/Lynh_UK, those poor people. The nail biters were biting, the felines and canines were quiet for the most part. Some tried to give advice, but in truth the decision was up to the players whether to double or not etc. Depending on how the cards fell and the bidding went, it could be anyone’s game. And on the last hand Lorainew/mickifinn bid and made 3NT to wrap up the win for the dogs, making the final score 31 Dogs and 29 cats. As I said earlier, it was dog for cat this week in the squeaker and the dogs came out victorious. Congratulations to all our pups teams. Well done on another close day.
