CATERMAULING

By Dee:

Sadly, this report will be far from complete. This poor, pathetic director did not do her job well – she was overworked, underpaid and sadly lacking in her normal tools. Due to a terribly selfish desire to spend the weekend with my daughter, I was forced to do the Ryder on my laptop (I usually use both the laptop and my PC). On top of this, Houma (aka New Orleans for us non-attending slobs) participated in the Ryder via Jawall’s laptop. Jawall did an excellent job and I truly want to thank her for her help and willingness to totally take over when I got truly overwhelmed. My hat’s off to you. Thank you, Jo!!!

Greetings between New Orleans and online friends were fast and furious. It quickly became obvious that our Houma contingent had partied much too hearty the night before since groans were thrown in among the greetings. Since Mel (Sugartimebabe) was not there to protect her harem, BlackTransparentBikini decided to make some extra money by selling off Mel’s men one by one. Bidding began slowly, but the harem selling continued. There were also many howls (both of the canine and feline variety) of Happy Birthday to our beloved MickiFinn, who celebrated her ??th birthday with us (OldYank's note: Micki is now allowed to buy alcohol in Vegas).

While Round 1 was beginning here, NO finished theirs with a resounding thrashing of the canines by those strutting cats. The score there was 8-2 with slams bid and made by Moyan/MacMarine; Cblack/COL_f150; Sugartimebabe/Dpman (who defected to the canine side for the sake of a pretty Babe). The felines online continued the catacreaming with a 8-3 win. Slams were announced by Ron_Maxey/SugarMt; Bert_Kitty/ErnieTomcat; Suzy/TheHolyGuy. So, the total score for Round 1 was 16-5 for the cats. Obviously, there was merriment and caterwauling by the felines while Round 2 was paired off. The Big Dog tried to rally the canines and keep their spirits up which did seem to be work even with the cats razzing the poor dogs mercilessly.

Round 2 was quickly begun both here and in New Orleans. The NO score for this round was 5-5. Sadly, whether any slams were bid and made is unknown. Results online came in fast and furious with the dogs almost winning with a final score for the round being 7-6. Total score was now 12-11 cats for the round and a total of 28-16 for the cats. Slams were bid and made by Rebos_Dog/BlackTransparentBikini and JickytheJink/LittleLadyBug. There was great joy by both cats and dogs and all of their friends for the closeness of the round.

More of Mel’s harem was sold, especially since the men were now being offered 2 for 1. Barb wouldn’t tell us what the bids were, but obviously the sale was going well since she seemed exceptionally happy. A birthday party was in full swing with food catered by The Bow Wow Café. And, of course, the New Orleans contingent kept taking over Jo’s laptop to send their greetings and let us know what a wonderful time they were having.

Since New Orleans had an early dinner planned, they quickly began (and ended) Round 3 again with a tie of 10-10. Online results came flying in. The total online was 14-8 cats. Grand total for the day was 52-34 felines (yes, I misreported score, but then I never claimed I could add nor count well). Since I had to leave and enjoy the rest of the day with Jess (we went to see Hearts in Atlantis, a truly sweet movie that we both enjoyed and would happily recommend), I disappeared as soon as I could, so have no idea what happened at the end of Round 3, but I hope you all had a grand time.

The rest of Mel’s harem was sold. Many to a friend of mine who, hopefully, will be playing in the Ryder for the first time next week. Kay never could resist a bargain and the 3-for-1 price was just too good to pass up.

See you all next Saturday and I’ll do my best to be more attentive to the goings on.
