The dogs jumped out to a 9 to 5 lead in the first round and that's when the trash talk started. The cats, using psychological warfare, pulled out a 9 to 5 round of their own in the second. It looked like the dogs had succumbed to more cat trickery and were doomed to sliding right out of the battle. When word went out that only cats can be cool and dogs were dumb, Cooljoew stepped up and declared "talk to the paw". He was not about to listen to the trash and neither were the rest of the dogs. From that point on, "Talk to the Paw" became the battle cry of the alley. Try as they may, every time a cat would come up with a zinger, a dog would raise a paw and put them down. The cats slashed and battled their way into the last round reporting a victory to match every dog win. The score was tied more times than a kindergarten sneaker. It came down to the last two tables, score tied (of course). The lounge buzzed with excitement. The trash talk started. Reports of a dog collapse spread quickly. The cats were starting to purr. From the center of the alley a paw shot out. "Talk to the Paw" rang through the alley. A mighty cheer echoed in the narrow alley as the dogs knew they were to repeat as winners. This may not be an impressive statistic for anyone outside Max's Alley because the cats have a lot more in a row than two. It is significant for the dogs though because it sends out a message. A message that has been missing for a long time. A message that is ringing in the ears of every puppy. A message being spoken at every dog dinner table. A message that has every cat spitting and sharpening claws.
