Ryder is a "Family Picnic"

Happy New Year

Felden1 made an observation I would like to pass along to you. She says she loves to play in the Social Lounge because we are becoming a close family. The tournaments and newsletter promote friendship throughout the Community. The Community allows for new friendships to be formed and furthered by playing together. The Ryder tournament provides a "family picnic" or "club meeting" where we can all get together at the same time and let our hair down with our friends. We know that our "family" will be there. We can chat, play, joke around, and feel comfortable just being ourselves. I'm an old softie, so with a tear in my eye, I'll say I guess I couldn't agree more. Now, on with the report.

What a battle we had tonight. The CATS met the DOGS in the Social Lounge alley and the fur was flying all evening. With 9 tables, we were sure to have an outright winner. The CATS scratched first, followed by a quick bite by the DOGS. Then another victory for the CATS, and another. Three victories for the DOGS, then one more for the CATS. The score was tied 4 - 4 with one table still out and the score before the last hand was 520 - 520. Anybody's game. Newcomers, AntonioAngelakos/TheBrittQueen pulled off the win for the CATS to take the lead after the first round. The second round got underway with little problem, but the lounge started getting hisses and spitting from the CATS. It seems that some of the DOGS were distracting the CATS by wearing fishnet stockings. Something about the scent of the fish, I guess. The mystery thickened when Jin complained of the male DOGS wearing fishnets. While investigating, I happened into one of the tables in time to read the message that "Orla almost has her clothes back on". We were at a loss to figure out this strategy. It apparently had some success as the DOGS came growling back to take the second round 5 to 4 which evened the match at 9 wins each. The third round matched unbeaten CATS Fonee/Rabbit against unbeaten DOGS Opensesamenow/RedRover, and unbeaten POB/Acastofmany for the CATS against unbeaten Kenny_HA2/Hoosang (sub LotteryRose) for the DOGS. Once again the match came down to the last table. The score was tied at 17 to 17 with only one table out. This time the team of Pollyvw/Happilyeverafter won the match and the day for the DOGS. The final score was DOGS 19 - CATS 17.

Undefeated teams for the day were: Pob/Acastofmany for the CATS and Opensesamenow/RedRover and Polly/Happy for the DOGS.

Representing the CATS - Jin/Francylou; GaleB/Harlequin_Smiles; Fonee/Rabbit; Cathugo/Dittny; Golfnldy/TheHolyGuy; Pob01br/Acastofmany; LittleSwan/Jo_Fro_Azo; Kendocalrissian/Diane_Graham; AntonioAngelakos/TheBrittQueen (sub ComputeMom).

The DOGS were - SteveBurdette/Felden1; KennyHA2/Hoosang (sub LotteryRose); Orla/Rueful_Rabbit; Connie/Glossit; Opensesamenow/RedRover; Jean/Dutchie; Billsgirl/Joelf; Happy/Polly (sub BlackRockGal); Drannalee/Mman.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. The coming year promises to be a great one for the Social Community.
