Campbell Lt. Col. (USAF Ret.) Russell Clifton Campbell was born December 21, 1922, in Harbine, Nebraska. He passed away at home in El Paso, Texas, April 19, 2005. His military service began in 1940 when he enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard. He arrived at Dutch Harbor, the Aleutians, in 1942 on the eve of the Japanese bombing of the U.S. Naval Base there. Accepted for pilot training, he received his wings in 1944 at Mission, Texas. His career with the Air Force included assignments in Combat Operations, and the 420th and 431st Air Refueling Squadrons while stationed in Japan, England, and Turkey. In 1965, after 25 years of service and over 5000 hours of flight time, he retired and moved to El Paso. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis; children, Steven Campbell, Carolyn Douglass and husband Paul, their children, Kara Thom, Erin Bies and Johndavid; Janis Andrade and husband Bryan and their children, Katy, Elisa and Austin; and great-grandchildren TJ and Tyler Bies, McKenna and Kendall Thom. Also two sisters, Eleanor Penney of Omaha, NE and Marian Pingel of Placerville, CA., nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 25 at 12:30 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 750 N. Carolina with Pastor Bob Patterson of Bethany Christian Church officiating. Interment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.

Dear Friends of Russell Campbell,

We are sad to say that Russ (Papabud) passed away the morning of April 19,
at his home in El Paso, TX, surrounded by family and friends.

We would like to thank you for your friendship with him and the many hours
of enjoyment he spent with you all playing bridge and sharing emails with
one another.

If there are friends of his that you know of that we have not included in
the mailing list, please forward this message to them.

a memorial. We will dedicate this Ryder to the memory of two players
lost this week: papabud (Russell Campbell) and helent07 (Helen).
