TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Carol Parker and Logan Garrett have joined the board of directors of the Soaring Eagle Center. Carol has been in education for over thirty years. She was head of special education at DeSoto High School. She currently has a consulting company that helps school districts develop peer tutoring programs for students in special education. Logan has an extensive background in business and with nonprofits. He currently is a consultant for various businesses and nonprofits. We are excited to have both on our board. We want to thank Rosa Anderson for her service on the board this past year. She helped our organization grow and improve in many ways. Other board members are Myrle Westlund, Peggy Jenkins, and Mary Blankenship. If you would be interested in serving on our board, please contact Myrle Westlund, 972-223-5590.
LIFE IS LIFE VIDEO
Aaron Walker is in the process of producing a short documentary on the Soaring Eagle Center. Its tentative title is, “Life is Life”. The documentary will highlight the need for programs for young adults with intellectual disabilities and what we are doing to meet those needs. Plan to attend the world premiere some time this fall. We will also be producing a short (3 – 5 minute) video to help in fund raising.
SEARCH FOR NEW FACILITIES
We have outgrown our two suites at 104 Chowning Drive and are actively pursuing options for purchasing our own facility. A larger facility will enable us to have more young adults in our day program. Please pray with us as we seek to raise the money to do this. As plans for fund raisers become more definite, we will communicate them to you. If you would like to help with fund raisers, please contact Myrle Westlund, 972-223-5590.
If you wish to be removed from our mailing list please contact Myrle at 972-223-5590 or [email protected]
