The only other change I'm using is that Bards now get 6 skill points instead of 4. I thought it was nice how they absolutely forced Bards to have high Int (considering how desperately they wanted skills, PLUS having one skill probably stolen by Perform), but if the Ranger gets more skill points, I suppose Bards should too. I don't think it'll matter, looking at how things are going, though.
Notable changes:
Hit Die: d8 instead of d10.
BAB: Same.
Saves: Now Fort & Ref are good, Will bad (instead of Fort good, others bad). So in other words, use the +2/+3/+3/+4... progression for Ref Saves.
Skill Points: 6 instead of 4. Use the 3.0 skill list.
Special Ability notes:
Still get the Track feat at first level.
Instead of the conditional Ambi + Two-Weapon Fighting at first level, you have a choice of styles at 2nd level. You can either get the same Ambi & 2WF as before, or pick up Rapid Shot for free. At 7th level (I believe), you get the Improved Two Weapon Fighting feat for free, or [insert Archery related feat](talk to DM, because Manyshot doesn't exist in 3.0).
Favored Enemy bonus is now +2 at first level (to skills and damage), +4 and a +2 against the second enemy at 5th level, with every bonus afterwards adding a new enemy and one +2 bonus (so at 10th, you can either have +6/+2/+2 or +4/+4/+2). One restriction to ignore, and one new: ignore the bit about no damage bonus vs. enemies that can't be critical hit (read: undead, constructs, oozes, and so on). While perhaps halfway sensical (they have no weak points), I disagree; sure a golem has weakpoints, and if anyone can find the weakpoint of an ooze, it's a Ranger who's studied one. The new restriction is, don't take your favored enemy as anything that is commonly sentient, unless perhaps it's a famously stupid sentient (say, goblins). The logic behind this is that a Ranger's favored enemy is a species that the Ranger knows- he's studied their habits, patterns, habitats, etc. These are all fairly consistent for monstrous spiders. Same with boars & other animals. And even smart things like devils have fairly known weaknesses or odd magical compulsions. If you take favored enemy "human," you've... studied the habits of humans? Take the "Psychologist" prestige class instead, or something. Things like humans are far too unpredictable (side note: the sure sign of the power-gamer is the one who has the halfling rogue with one level of Ranger and favored enemy: human so they can power up their bluffs and sneak attacks. Yes, I've seen it before. Avoid like the plague).
The Endurance feat is free at 3rd level.
