Already at a young age my brother and I put on shows at our home in
Germany for ourselves. Washing machine soap boxes served as drums,
toy guitars and an accordion were our instruments as we acted like
stars, performing and singing to records. At the age of eleven I
started learning the piano from my Mom. The first song I learned
to play on the piano by heart was "Yesterday" by the
Beatles. One day I was playing it and my Dad, who was in another
room thought he was listening to the radio. He was surprised to
find me playing the piano and encouraged me to play it for about two
hundred people at a talent show. The next year I performed my own
composition, which, again, my parents encouraged me to do. I
continued to learn and compose on my own as a teenager and sometimes
jamming with my brother who played the drums well. By this time I had
also learned the guitar and loved playing my favorite Beatles songs.
Once I started attending college in Texas I took a scoring and arranging
class and wrote a full orchestral arrangement of, you guessed it,
"Yesterday". Every year I would compose new songs and
record them on cassette tapes. Having moved back to Germany again, I eventually started buying
equipment so I could record in my own home studio. At the center was a
small Atari computer with a program called Cubase that recorded all the
Midi events from my keyboards and drum machine. Then I ventured
out on my own to compose and record my own music full time. I
composed music for video productions and performed live for all types of
parties. At that time I also recorded my first full-length album
on cassette tape.
I moved back to California and started playing piano for local Pasadena
restaurants, including McCormick & Schmick's. All along I continued to write songs and compose music. In 1998 I
established my own record label "Snowflake
Records". For the first time I started using the computer as
a recording, arranging and mixing tool. The outcome was my latest release "Majoring In Minor". I plan to record more CD's
with my original music and to continue performing my music live. Thank you for
your interest. Please let me know by writing in my guest book if
you enjoyed my latest CD "Majoring In Minor".
