My Nights...
The idea for this writing activity came from an entry on a Blog I was looking at called 'My Nights are Better than Your Days.' In 235 words, the writer caught the atmosphere of her night-times perfectly. So I challenged some of my students to do the same. We brainstormed 'night' vocabulary, and then they were on their own. Some lovely evocative work was produced; here is a sample. Thanks to 'Frilly' of Ontario, Canada, for the inspiration!
Night time

Night is the time when I feel the most relaxed. It is the time when I dont worry about anything at all. It is the time when my quieter feelings come to the surface. I just love to sit in front of the computer in my bedroom and chat with my friends It is the time when I also get melancholic and get myself thinking about what could have been different in my life if I had chosen other ways It can also become the time when I feel the loneliest
Night is when I try to do the things I didnt have time to do during the day. I usually try to surf the web in order to find things I couldnt find during day-time due to short time or something It is also when I like to go to my kitchen window and look outside. I dont know why, but I feel astonished. Looking at the sky, covered with stars, the empty streets, the cats that walk on the rooftops, the dogs that bark at the cats, and the people who yell at the dogs. It is a time when some people meditate about their life and others drink until they forget about theirs. Some people dance, others sing, others just wander around thinking about the lost love
Nights are the times when people get the craziest and wildest, when some people throw away their worries and go party with friends and family, when they become gods and are superior for a good amount of time. Nights are indeed the time of the day that can cause the biggest amount of contradictory feelings, and most of us feel every single one of them.

Nights are when my imagination awakens and makes me travel to a whole new world. Even when I am not asleep, the tranquillity and the romance brought to me by the moonlight lead me to a breathtaking journey where I experience one of the ultimate feelings: freedom! The millions of stars in the dark mysterious sky are my guides and the soft clouds my flying carpet. It is only then that I can truly relax. While I fly though the world of dreams, I forget all my problems and worries, and surrender myself to the beauty life. I go wherever I choose to go, wherever my thoughts take me. I have visited amazing white sandy beaches, been under a cool waterfall, and even discovered the mysterious underwater world. All this travelling is by no means tiring, but invigorating instead. In fact, when  I wake up, I feel calm, peaceful, and ready to face a new day.
Night-time isnt always a time to think and lose oneself in ones thoughts. It is also a perfect time to party and experience the pleasure of dancing, celebrating with friends, or even... love. It is not by chance that most people fall in love at night, or at least realise what they really feel at that time: the whole atmosphere makes it happen. The moon seems to turn on something special inside us which often leads to the whispering of those three little words: I love you...
Night... the one time when I am free to go on adventures both real and surreal... the perfect time to dream and live the life I choose for a few hours.
