Season Ending Storage

Proper off season storage of your snowboard can insure that it stays in good condition and makes it easier to get back on the mountain when the snow starts to fall again.

1) Scrape all of the wax from the base of the board and wipe down the bottom using a base cleaner.

2) Apply a thick coat of hot wax using the method described under "Base Waxing". However, do not scrape this wax off, but rather leave it on the base and edges. The wax will penetrate into the base and better protect the board's edges from rusting. When the next season begins, simply scrape off the base, finish the final steps of the waxing job, and you're ready to hit the slopes.

3) It is always best to store your snowboard in a bag to protect it from being damaged in the off season. Do not keep it in places that have a high amount of moisture in the air, which will rapidly increase rusting of the edges. Places to avoid storing your board would include a shed, basement, attic, or garage. Try standing your board up in the corner of a closet to avoid being knocked over. You may also store it laying flat on the board's base. If you choose this way, make sure that you do not place anything of weight on top of the board. A heavy item could cause continuous pressure on the snowboard's structure, thus deteriorating the life of the camber. Under a bed is a good place for this type of storage.
