In January 1993 I joined Astwood Bank First School,I was the first pupil in a wheelchair at the school and had to prove myself to the local health authority who wanted to send me to a special school. I managed this with help and support from staff, friends and family (especially teacher and friend Ann-marie Mitchell). I proved that just because you have a wheelchair doesn't mean you can't have good grades and take part in sport. I was the football team goalie and enjoyed taking part in the swimming club Next...
After a battle with the county to let me stay with my friends, in November 1997 I had to start at St. Peters C.E Middle School. It turned out to be a fab school, but nothing could prepare me for my future!
And Finally...
September 2001 I joined Arrow Vale Community High School and took up shotput- I am now three times regional champion and twice national champion for Disability Sport England!
