| 25 08 02 Hi. Tmr is the eng essay. I am prepared to fail...well, my eng tutor never allows me to forget my limit. Like one of the themes in Maestro. Now, i seem to be associating all the themes in Maestro with similar events in my life. Enough about Maestro. Here is a little extract i like. Just want to share it with those of you who read my hp: "Every Life is a complete life The great stories of human existence hum beneath the surface of every single life. Sometimes we choose to amplify them; sometimes we try to ignore them. Sometimes, foolishly and at our peril, we struggle to suppress them. If you work at it, you might achieve a pretty good imitation of a tranquil, stable, uneventful life...but in my experience, that's never the real story, never the inside story. The big themes--love, pain, chronic insecurity, growth, disappointment, disillusionment, hope, faith, loneliness, tenderness, courage, frustration, betrayal, despair, joy, death---are always there, lying in wait, ready to seize the right moment to claim our attention. A tax accountant feels everything a poet feels, even if the emotional hues are not labelled with as much facility in one case as the other. The subtleties and varieties of the emotional life are as rich as a jockey as a judge, the foibles as irrational in a banker as a priest. .........." Winter Close. Hugh Mackay. Not a creative novel at all. Real life. Not written in figurative language as most novelist would. It's like a non-fiction. But i like how each chapter (about 4 to 5 pgs) is a complete differnent story..so i can enjoy one per night. Just for ideas. Well, he is a social researcher afterall. Lots of insights in people's lives. |

| 30 08 02 Surely today was warm. Felt like Spring eh? Another half-teasing comment from Mr Townsend(eco) about our jumpers. An accusation was directed at Mr Blunden (phy) about his bad influence on Mr Scollay, who had recented adopted Mr Blunden's jokes in his own teaching. Life is exciting, coz each day has new reveleations and discoveries about not only the world but yourself and people around you. I have repetitively wrote this, i know, howveer somehow i still do want to emphasis it. Only today did i really realise how much I miss the lunch time when we were in yr 7 8 and 9. Only when you've said goodbye to it would you realise how important they were. Endless lunchtime of fun, gams, chat, sharing funny, scary, ridiculous stories about our lives outside school. Occasional gossip, bickering, whinges....the sharing of stories. I truly miss that. It will never happen again I know. Today during lunch, we had a conversation about murder cases. Susan was so excited! I was complaining about how ridiculous those compensation could be ..and how could those judges be so biased and ..dumb! It was great...chatting with friends--although they weren't really the friends I had a few yrs before. You know, chatting with 'old' friends during lunch will never happen again. Everyone's busy. But it's alright. It's normal to spend lunchtime in the quad, not the lib, right? Being in yr 11 or 12 would be no exception right? Crap! 1 more week to study. Nob..i am not prepared. Despite exam..i am putting an entry on..took me 20 min to just log on the net successfully! (a waste of time? haha i still do chat on the phone and have a life) Pong, i wonder if you have time to read this tonight..or in the wkend. Happy bday Stephen. |
