Jenna was sitting next to Gavin when a soggy Cheerio hit her face. She looked up in surprise to see Eddie grinning at her.
Jenna threw a grape at Eddie that hit him in the chest. Eddie placed a Cheerio on his spoon and launched it at her. But it didn�t hit Jenna-it hit Gavin.
�Eddie, you suck, man,� Gavin said with a laugh, throwing a Lucky Charm at Eddie that hit Char instead.
�Hey! What was that for?� Char asked and flung a blueberry at Gavin.
�Hey, you guys! Cut it out!� Mo yelled. �You have to clean this crap up you know.�
�She�s right,� Eddie said. �We better stop before we get in trouble.�
All four of them began to pick up the food they threw. Robyn got up to give her bowl to the kitchen to wash. She ran into Brent at the door to the kitchen.
�Hey Robyn,� Brent said.
�Hey Brent,� Robyn replied softly.
�Look, Robyn-I�m sorry we had to talk earlier,� Brent said.
�You�re sorry we had to talk?� Robyn asked.
�No, that�s not what I meant, Rob-�
�No, I see what you mean. You don�t want to be around me-is that it?�
�No, Robyn, that�s not it. It came out wrong. I meant-�
�That you don�t wanna talk to me,� Robyn said.
Seth, Char and Kelly had come out to see what was going on.
�Would you just listen to me, Robyn? I meant, I�m sorry I just came up like that and surprised you and put you on the spot,� Brent said.
�Sure. Change your story now,� Robyn muttered.
�You know what? Now I am starting to be sorry I talked to you in the first place,� Brent said angrily.
�Finally! You admit it!� Robyn cried.
�Robyn-just cool down, okay?� Char said from behind Robyn.
�Just forget it, okay?� Brent spun around and stalked away.
�Robyn, you know you have to control your temper!� Jenna exclaimed.
�Yeah, I know.� Robyn sighed. �I just can�t help it you know? I get it from my mom.�
�But you have to learn to not jump to conclusions so fast and to control your temper,� Seth said. �Cuz I think Brent meant what he was saying.�
�Too late to say sorry now.� Robyn ran a hand through her hair. �Why do I always screw things up?�
�Don�t worry about it, Rob,� Mo said. �You have all week her to say sorry.�
�Hey guys-who�s up for a movie?� Kelly asked.
Everyone raised his or her hands.
�What do you want?� Kelly stood up.
�Surprise us,� Ziz said from her place on the couch.
�Anyone wanna come with?� Kelly offered. �To make sure I don�t pick something crappy?�
Char stood. �I�ll go.�
Kelly put his arm around Char as they walked out of the lounge and headed for the video rental.
�I hope it doesn�t snow anymore,� Char said as they entered the rental place.
�I know. I love fresh pow, but this is a little too much,� Kelly agreed. �Hey Char, look. They have �Technical Difficulties.��
�No way, are you kidding?� Char asked.
�Nope. It�s right here. Let�s get this.� Kelly picked up the video.
�I want to see it, too, Kel-like really bad-but not everyone else is as obsessed with boarding as we are. And we have skiers too,� Char said.
Kelly put the video back hesitantly. �Yeah, I guess you�re right, Char. Skiers suck.�
�Definitely,� Char agreed. �Let�s get a scary movie.�
�Char, I don�t know,� Kelly said. �It�s snowing and all and it might freak you out.�
�Kel, don�t tell me you�re scared,� Char said with a smile.
�No way,� Kelly replied defiantly.
�Then let�s get a scary movie.� Char pulled Kelly to the horror movie section. �How about Scream?�
�Only if you hold my hand during the scary stuff,� Kelly compromised.
�Okay. Come on. Let�s go check it out.�
�What�d you get?� Jenna asked as soon as Kelly and Char came back.
�Scream,� Char replied.
�Scream? Good choice, you guys,� Seth said sarcastically.
�Kel hasn�t seen it yet, so don�t ruin it for him.� Char popped the tape into the VCR on top of the big screen TV.
�You�re serious, Kelly? You�ve never seen Scream?� Robyn asked.
�No,� Kelly answered. �And the only reason I agreed to see it was that Char promised to hold my hand.�
Kelly and Char sat down on the couch and Char held Kelly�s hand. In the middle of the movie, the power went off. |
