"Well tonight was fun," Chris said cheerily on the ride back to Serena's and Carmel's apartment. Carmel and JC didn't say a word-they just stared out the window stonily. "Yeah, an unforgettable night, that's for sure," Lance added with a laugh. "Whew no kidding," Serena said. "I mean, I will never forget the beautiful yells of rage during JC's and Carmel's shouting match..." "Yeah whatever," Carmel muttered. "Oh yes, such a beautiful thing," Joey said. "All thanks to Ted..." "Okay, I get the point now, you guys. Never go off with some stranger at a club," Carmel snapped. "You don't have to rub it in." "Rub what in? We're just reviewing the night's event, Mel," Justin said sweetly as he pulled up to the apartment building. "Well, night you two." Serena easily slid out of the car and shut the door. Carmel had to crawl over JC's lap since he wasn't about to get out of the car and let her out the easy way. "JC, you're a jerk," Carmel retorted as she crawled over his legs. "No, I just don't want to move for a witch like you," JC replied as Carmel finally exited the car, stumbling over her own feet. Chris waved happily as he took Serena's place in the front seat. "Night Serena! Night Carmel!" "Good riddance," JC muttered. Lance smiled as if that could cover up JC's words. "Bye guys. See you later." "Good night everyone-I had a really great time-minus JC," Carmel said with a smile. "Bad night to you, JC." "I hope your sleep is filled with bad dreams," JC replied. "Yeah, well, I hope you have nightmares," Carmel retorted as Joey shut the door to cut off Carmel's and JC's angry insults. Justin smiled apologetically at the girls and waved as he drove away. "Why do you two fight all the time?" Joey asked. "I didn't start it," JC replied, slouching in his seat. "You both start it-why do you hate each other in the first place?" Lance asked. JC thought, trying to think back and remember what had happened between him and Carmel to create such hostility between them. He shrugged. "I don't remember." Justin snorted. "You don't remember?" "No, but that's probably because it was so horrible that I had to block it out of my memory." "Yeah right JC. It's probably so small and insignificant that it's not worth remembering," Chris said. "*why* are you guys so set on getting Carmel and me to get along?" JC asked. "Cuz we are sick and tired of seeing and hearing you two fight and squabble over dumb little things," Joey replied. "Personally, I think you like her," Chris said. "*What?*" JC yelled. "I don't think so!" "Oh *I* think so," Justin said. "No way! Not in two million years!" JC exclaimed. "My how time flies," Lance said.
"Mel, you should really give JC a chance," Serena shouted from her bedroom. Carmel took her toothbrush out of her mouth long enough to yell, "No." "Why *not*?" Serena asked. "Why not?" Carmel spat the foam out of her mouth into the sink. "Why *not*? I'll *tell* you why not! JC is a big fat jerk. He has absolutely no sensitive bones in his body and he has *no* consideration for others. He's a fat headed egomaniac who thinks he's God's gift." Carmel angrily resumed brushing her teeth. "Must I remind you of JC's apology and attempt at friendship earlier this evening?" Serena said. "That was just a bluff-he was trying to get to me." Carmel shrugged as she rinsed off her toothbrush and plunked it into the toothbrush cup. "But when you two were getting along, he was a pretty nice guy, wasn't her?" Serena pressed. "Maybe. But that doesn't mean anything." |
