I had my friend Chris come down to athens for the show (even though he went out the night before and really didn't want to go anywhere) promising him that he'd like Favorite if he came to the show. He was in Athens by lik 9:30, and we watched the rest of the Bachelorette before heading out. The cover for the show was $4 so that was awesome. Chris and i just hung around chatting until the first band came on. God help me i can't remember their name for the life of me. I've been racking my brain all day trying hard to remember, but i just can't. They were imitators and bad ones at that. Chris called them the davematthewspearljam experience, because those are the two bands they sounded like. The lead singer was SOOO channeling Eddie Vedder, and you know how much i dislike that man and his voice. This kid had the same stance, the same whiny voice, just everything. I will say that they can cover the hell out of songs though. They played "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye and "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5 so that was pretty neat. So after them was Favorite. HOLY SHIT, has anyone ever told you how much Favorite rules? Because they do. I had only seen them one time before, so i didn't understand how amazing they are. Talk about some guys that can throwdown on stage. They just rocked out. It was awesome. And I want their cd like now so i can listen to it non stop for a month. But the best thiing was that Chris REALLY enjoyed their set, which was good. He can spread the word. After the finished their set (which the ended by playing a fucking kick ass version of Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself") I went over to say hi. And Cas, Casey, and Crawford were all like "HI SHALIZA!" and i felt special. Haha. I got sweaty hugs from Cas and Casey, and they thanked me for coming out. I'm so happy that they played a show that i could actually go to. It was amazing. |
