| Yesterday I rode up to the North Springs station where Janelle picked me up. We hung out for awhile. She gave me the new Glassjaw and I got to see all of the pressurized video from start to finish (TWICE!) We got McDonalds, came back to her place and waited for Jordan & Lee. When they arrived, we all got into Janelle's car and rode down to Athens. We parked behind Tasty World and I had a fun time trying to lock the passenger door. But i figured it out. I got to be Janelle's + 1 thanks to her obviously and The Ghost. It seemed to take the show forever to start. The first band to play was half of Fairburn Royal, and after the first two songs which were about going to Japan to get import CDs, and Secretary's Day, we had to go outside to save our ears. The Ghost came outside and sat and hung out for a bit. While sitting outside, Jonah left for a bit to go visit the historic 40 Watt, since he's a huge fan of Athens music from back in the day (B-52s and REM). The Ghost went on next and they were really awesome. Janelle says they're even better when they're not so tired. But they had to drive up from Gainsville, which is really far. Onelinedrawing played late, I don't know when. Jonah was awesome, and funny, and charming as always. He kept talking about the Athens music scene, and how he grew up on bands like REM and the B-52s. He played a R.E.M. song, which I can't remember now. Jonah and shun kind of do the same thing to me. When I'm watching them, I don't want to move, I don't want to sing along, I don't want to blink. I just want to look and take it all in. He was amazing. It's funny, R2 decided to stop working early on in his set, and he needed another AA battery. So Melina took one out of her camera, and gave it to him. Melina saved R2! And it was right before the song that she really wanted to hear, Savory. He also played Job's Eyes, a great Far song, and ended with Tides. He didn't even have a set list or anything. Just had people yell out stuff and then played it. It was great. We hung around a bit afterwards. I ended up getting two of Jonah's EPs, sketchy 1 & 2. I've seen him three times, but i didn't have any one line drawing stuff so i figured it was about time. And when I go back to school, i can play it at the station. When it was time to go, everyone said their goodbyes. Lee had already left with a friend so drove Jordan to Joy's and then Melina Cory, Janelle and I went to I Hop which is really hopping at 2:30 in the morning. There were lots of people there. Then we went to Melina's place and crashed. | |||||
