Love & Rockets and Orgy
Saturday March 27h, 1999- The Tabernacle: Atlanta, GA
I went to this show with Terri when we were juniors in high school.  We were both wearing long black skirts, black tops and chunky ass boots.  They were actually the same boots made by the same company, Delias, but mine had white stitching.  Amy had given Terri the boots because she didnt like them anymore and I bought my boots for my 17th birthday.  Haha. I remember Terrys parents dropped us off in front of the Tabernacle. When they pulled up in front, Terrys mom got a look at all of the wild outfits one would naturally expect to see at an Orgy show.  In her heavy Brooklyn accent she said, Oh my gawd Terri! All those girls look like whores and vampires!  I almost lost it!  That was one of the funniest things Ive ever heard.  Now, we went to this show to basically see Love & Rockets because Terri liked them a lot.  Peter Murphy was supposed to come to town, but he didnt so Terri was very happy when she heard that Love & Rockets was gonna play with Orgy.  As we all know, Love & Rockets and Peter Murphys solo career arose out of the ashes of the 80s Goth band Bauhaus.  The interesting thing about this show was that there was a wide range of people: young and old, teeny boppers and kids who were so Goth that they were dead. I was a little excited about seeing Orgy, although the only song I knew by them really was Blue Monday, the New Order cover they did that made them so popular.  So for their set, Terri and I hung out in the balcony and just observed all of the crazy outfits around us.  We did watch Orgys set which was actually pretty good. They are a good live band.  After their set, we went down to the floor to watch Love & Rockets.  To our surprise we saw our friend John Feldman from school there with one of his friends.  Its always weird seeing people you know from school out of the school environment.  Anyway, he and his friend hung out with us while we watched Love & Rockets.  They played a great set! Although there were these two really annoying 13 year old girls in front of me, jumping up and down and flipping their ponytails in my face.  They had on these Orgy shirts and it was obvious to me that they had no clue about Love & Rockets at all.  They probably thought that Jay and Ryan were really cute when they saw the video for Blue Monday on MTV.  Hehe, yeah I know Im mean. Anyhow, it was a good show, with one of my good friends so I enjoyed it.
