| I was very, very excited about seeing KoRn because when I was 16 I was a very big fan of theirs and had missed the show they had done in Atlanta at the International Ballroom with Orgy and (Hed)pe. My mother was being mean that month and she wouldn't let me go. Kirby and Amy went and had a great time, but they said that the pit was scary. Anywho, I went to this show with Amy who was also really into KoRn at the time. I didn't have Issues, the new album, and wasn't ever really planning on getting it because I was no longer in love with Korn like I used to be. But I did have Korn's first three albums and I was excited about hearing the songs from those, especially Clown and Faget. Amy and I made sure that we got floor tickets because we didn't want to be in the seats like we were for Limp Bizkit. Floor is way more fun. When Amy and I arrived at Philips there was already a long line of people waiting. It was cold outside and we really wanted the doors to open so we could get inside the warm building. Amy saw some people she knew in line so we talked to them for awhile. When they opened the doors, we made our way down to the floor. They punched a hole through our tickets and gave us these neon yellow wristbands to wear. That was to show that we had floor seats. If you didn't have a wristband, you couldn't be on the floor. Staind took to the stage first, of course. Now, I really didn't care for Staind too much, but of course I knew some of their songs because of 99x and MTV. I remember that Amy and I were saying that Aaron Lewis had some issues, because of the way he was on stage. He was always bent down with his hand across his face like he was crying or something. Strange guy. After Staind, there was a segment of cartoons that were being played on the big screen. They were sick and twisted and disturbing, but kinda funny. While the crews were setting up for KoRn, there were lost of girls on top of guys' shoulders. Cameramen started panning around the room and getting shots of the girls. Everything they shot relayed itself up on the screen up front. Some of the girls started flashing the camera and of course the guys loved that. Some of the cameramen started putting the camera on pretty girls, and girls with big boobs hoping that they would flash the camera. Most of them did. But there was one girl who refused to lift up her shirt, she kept shaking her head no, and I remember the guys in the room booing her. Assholes. I really respected the fact that she didn't give into their taunts, and stuck to her decision to not flash the crowd. After awhile, the lights went down and KoRn took to the stage. While it was cool hearing A.D.I.D.A.S., Clown, Faget, Shoots and Ladders, and Blind, it seemed to me that their set was clouded in a mist of obnoxiousness and self-centeredness. They had become rockstars and it was evident through their stage presence and the way they played. If only I could've seen them at the ballroom. Anyway, Dave Silveria, KoRn's drummer, had recently gotten off the tour because he suffered a wrist injury. And so Mike Bordin, who used to play drums for Faith No More, filled in on drumming duties. He, of course, was very good. One thing that really sticks out in my mind about that show was the Korn Cage, where all these kids were onstage with the band, behind them, in a cage. That would've been a cool spot to see the show from. Another thing that I vividly remember was one of KoRn's roadies picking out a few long legged, tight pants wearing, big busted, females and taking them backstage. Now, I know it's not really fair for me to assume why he took them backstage, but it's pretty obvious, especially how they were dressed. Tell me who goes to a concert in high heels? Definitely not someone who plans on moshing for sure. Shame on the KoRn boys for cheating on their wives and girlfriends (you know they did!) A fight also broke out on the floor between these two guys during Korns set. Guy A was pissed that Guy B was messing with his girlfriend. They did a little pushing and shoving but after awhile they were broken apart by some others. Boys are stupid. Hehe. Anyway, I had phun at the show but was disappointed that it was too late to see the KoRn I had fallen in love with when I was 16. | |||||
