Kittie, Ill Nino, Chimaira, and No One
Tuesday January 22nd, 2002- Earthlink Live: Atlanta, GA
A Kittie show. And you know what that means.  Shaliza gets hurts.  That always happens.  This show was originally supposed to be at the Masquerade, but one of the stairways collapsed over New Years and so the show had to be moved to Earthlink Live.  I had never been there so I was curious to see what it looked like. Dan from school said that he was going and I was looking out for him, but I didnt see him.  Melina and I got to Earthlink around the time the doors opened.  Mark left tickets for us at the window and we had no trouble getting them this time.  We walked around for awhile before we found our crew: Leftfield. Janelle, Chris, Jodie, Brad, and Paul were all there. I think they interviewed Kittie earlier that afternoon. We didnt see Jeremy with them because he was backstage hanging out with No One.  Earthlink Live is a really cool place. Theyve got cool furniture, clean bathrooms, and the actual concert floor and seats are enclosed within a bunch of doors. So in-between bands you can chill out in the lounge and have a drink.  The first band to go on was No One. Melina and I were pretty much right up front.  They were ok I guess. But I didnt see anything really special about them. We saw Jeremy and his friend Elizabeth off to the side of the stage. I knew he was back there!  We also saw some girls from Kittie standing by watching.  Chimaira was next and they were the only ones that we were there to see anyway.  They played an awesome set.  Every time they come to town, more and more people seem to know about them.  This is a good thing of course because that way the crowd will be more into them when they play.  Melina and I of course went off like we always do.  There was a pit a good amounts of crowd surfing, but nothing too bad untilright before Chimaira left the stage, this really fat kid decided that he was going to crowd surf.  Not a good idea.  So somehow he managed to get up in the air on top of a bunch of us.  I saw him heading my way and so I put my hands into the air to keep him from falling on me. As I was trying to  push him away from me, my right arm snapped because of the weight.  My arm actually came out of its socket in my shoulder.   For about 30 seconds my arm was just hanging and I thought, Oh my God! I cant believe this is happening! It was so scary because I just knew my arm was broken.  It snapped back into place after a little bit, but DAMN did that hurt.  We got off the floor after that. Melina and I talked to Janelle and the gang until it was time for Ill Nino to play.  When Ill Nino took to the stage, they all went inside to watch, but Melina and I stayed out in the lounge.  We wanted to find Mark so that we could tell him thanks for putting us on the guestlist again, But we couldnt find him.  Then Janelle came out into the lounge and told us that Mark was on stage with Ill Nino.  So we went back inside and there Mark was on stage with Ill Nino, doing Eye For An Eye.  It was cool. Soulfly rocks!  After Ill Ninos set, Mark and some of the other Chimaira dudes came out.  Melina and I were able to talk to him a bit and thank him which was cool.  His girlfriend was there selling merch and she looked bored as hell.  After talking to Mark, we said bye to him and everyone else. By this time, Kitite were on stage. We peaked in for about a second to watch them, and then decided to leave.  Good show, fun times, but fuck did my arm hurt!
