| I had to go to this show because at the time I was just in love with Dashboard Confessional. I was so excited about seeing Chris Carrabba do his thing. Melina and I got something to eat before the show, then went to the Masquerade. She went to talk to Cory and his friends and I talked to Janelle for a little bit. All the kids there were like 15 years old and I felt ancient. I saw Chris come out of the Masquerade and I was like, DAMN, hes really short. Hes kind of a small guy, I could probably kick his ass. Haha. Anyway, we were able to get up to the front of the line just by being next to Cory and his friends, so we were one of the first ones to get inside. Chris was walking around and I got an even better look at him, and how short he was. I just couldnt believe it. Went over to Merch and got a Dashboard Hoodie. A zip up hoodie at that! Its awesome. While the first band was preparing, I saw Jeremy and he was standing near the walkway that leads backstage. I was surprised that he was there, but not really. Hes not much of a fan of this emo stuff, but he gets into the Masquerade for free, and I think he wanted to see Fairweather or something. Anyway, Melina and I were just talking to him, and Chris comes behind us and is just standing there looking out onto the floor I guess. Some girl comes up and starts talking to him. Were still talking to Jeremy and in a very audible voice, he says that he really doesnt see the big deal about Dashboard Confessional and doesnt think Chris is all that great. Melina tried to shush him, telling Jeremy that Chris was writer behind. Then Jeremy says, Fuck, I dont care if hes standing right behind me, and I know Chris had to have heard that. Melina was like, Oh my gosh, and walked away. I thought it was pretty funny, cause Jeremy just didnt give a shit. More and more people started coming in and soon the place was packed. The first band to play was Seville, their drummer, who also sings, plays drums for Dashboard, and I believe that there are a few other guys in Seville who play in Dashboard as well. They were really good and I enjoyed their set. I was at the back sitting down with some Janelle and some others, just chilling out. Next was Fairweather who I didnt like at all, because there is like a fucking castrati. He sounds like an 8 year old boy, and it was annoying. Its weird cause hes kind of a heavy set dude, but he has this whiny little voice coming out of his mouth. I didnt like it at all. Next was Further Seems Forever who I was excited to see. I had never seen them before, but I knew that they had a new singer named Jason. Jason is an alright singer, but fuck those songs just arent the same without Chris singing them. They did, the Moon is Down, Just Until Sundown, The Bradley, Snowbirds and Townies, and Pictures of Shorelines. They closed with New Years Project. Everyone Screamed when Chris came out and did the last part of that song with the band. Oh my Gosh it sounded SOO much better with him singing it. It sounded they way it should sound. Heres my whole thing with Dashboard and Further. When I compare Further with Chris and Dashboard Confessional I think Further with Chris is better. However Dashboard is better than Further with Jason. I think most people feel that way. But oh well. Dashboard was next and everyone just loved it. Chris really didnt even have to sing since the crowd was singing the songs for him. They played Screaming Infidelities, The Sharp Hint of Tears, A Plain Morning, Again I go Unnoticed, Ender Will Save Us All, Shirts and Gloves, The Brilliant Dance, The Best Deceptions, Saints and Sailors, The Good Fight, and The Places You have Come to Fear the Most. I think they played stuff from the EP as well, but I dont remember which songs. It was funny because they closed with Again I Go Unnoticed and Janelle was just waiting to hear that song. So when they started playing it, she was quite happy. I was a happy camper as well. It was a good show. | |||||
