Taproot, Deadsy and Dredg
Wednesday August, 21st 2002- The Cotton Club: Atlanta, GA
Melina and I headed up to Atlanta for Taproot. We got there at like 8:30 maybe? Saw Akeem, Jeremy, Dru, Josh. Dredg was first again, and they were awesome again. While they were playing Phil and Stephen were down on the floor at the back watching their set. After a few songs, Stephen was on his way back to the bus, and when he walked by me I tapped him on the shoulder to say hi. He gave me a hug and asked how long the drive was. So Dredg ended and got a big round of applause of course. Then I saw the guys from School for Heroes walk in and I was kinda surprised that they were there. But they like dredg and taproot, so I guess that makes sense. Haha. All of them were there except for Asa. So Deadsy was next and what not. Elijah's mic wasn't turned up high enough, so I couldn't really hear him. Not that I'm complaining or anything. That was just an observation. After Deadsy was Taproot of course. They sounded like ten times better than in Athens. Better crowd I guess. They played pretty much the same set list, minus "Emotional Times" but plus "Dreams" which is SUCH a GOOD song. Stephen plays guitar on it. He also dedicated "Now" to "all the ladies" playa playa Stephen was really talkative and thanked everyone for coming out, especially since they haven't toured in a year or so. He was impressed that people hadn't forgotten about them, and he seemed thankful for that. He even jumped off of the balcony at one point. I swear that one of these days he's gonna get hurt doing that shit. So taproot finished, and it was time to leave. I got a quick picture with Phil, and talked to Jarrod for a bit. I love Jarrod. He is so fucking nice. You can just talk to him about anything and have a good conversation. He was telling me how Stephen is really awesome on guitar, AND drums, and can play all of that double bass petal metal shit that Slipknot does. It was kind of weird watching Stephen playing a guitar, since you just never seen a guitar in his hands. Kind of like when Mark plays guitar live on the song Jade. But I digress Was talking to Nathan from the taproot bored at one point, and Mike's girlfriend/fianc? was talking to Nathan about getting the pictures he took at the show. I talked to her a bit later, and she seems really nice. I think her name is Leigh. Lastly, I talked to Stephen, and told him that they sounded better than last night, and he said, "yeah I told you we would." Gave him a hug goodbye and left.  Man seeing Taproot again made me realize how much I really love them. They are really a great band, and really sweet, nice guys as well. They were the first entire band that Melina and I ever met. I'm happy that they're coming out with a new album, and hopefully they'll come back here when tour time comes again.
