Coheed and Cambria, S.T.U.N., and theSTART- Wednesday April 9th, 2003- 40 Watt: Athens, GA
Yesterday was very strange and nothing that was planned worked out because people are stupid. I found out early yesterday morning that Quinn was in jail, and that The Used probably wouldn't make it to Athens. After my last class, i got a call from the lady that i've been going back and forth with about the interview, and she said that there was mad drama going on, and that she'd have to reschedule my interview. She said i could do it over the phone, or at Warped Tour. I picked Warped Tour. So I'll get in touch with her when that gets closer. It's coming here in July. Throughout the day, I was hoping that The Used would somehow make it to Athens before the show. Even if they made it there at 12 they could still play. And for awhile, even the 40 watt seemed to think that they'd show up eventually, just be really really really late. But the Used never came and the band didn't even leave Florida until 10 p.m. because Quinn had been in jail that whole time. So you may be wondering why Quinn was in jail in the first place. Did he do something really wrong? Nope. What he got arrested for was so stupid, and I'm happy that I don't live in Jacksonville where the police can arrest you for bullshit reasons without even trying to figure out who you are first.

Quinn got arrested for "trespassing" Apparently there were these kids that were hanging around the venue after the show to get the band to sign stuff, and the Jacksonville cops told them that they had to leave because they were trespassing. So the kids left, but then came back again. Branden and Quinn came out to sign autographs and the cops came back, and started putting people in handcuffs. Quinn tried talking to the cops to explain what was going on, and ended up getting arrested to. I would've been SOO pissed. So basically Quinn spent all of Tuesday night, and all day Wednesday in jail. Their tour manager was trying really hard to get him out, but they couldn't. I mean finally he's out, and they're most likely in georgia, but thats such bullshit. My mom said that they should sue for loss of wages. See thats why people don't like cops. Don't get me wrong, all cops aren't bad, but a lot of them are just pricks with too much power.

Even though the Used didn't play, the show was still on. But anyone who wanted their money back got a voucher from the venue. I went down to the 40 watt around 8:30. And i ran into Janelle, Heather and Melody on my way there. We hung out at the Engine Room for a little bit, and then went back to the 40 watt. There were heard all the rumors starting about why the Used wasn't there. Some people said that they had to cancel 'cause the bass player was in jail. One girl was so mad, and she was saying, "Dammit, why couldn't they just bail him out!" Stupid bitch, its not that easy. If it was, do you think he would've been there all night and day? It was ok to feel disappointed and upset, but damn, shit happens. And if you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at the Jacksonville Police Department for hiring such assholes, and not the band.

So we went inside the 40 watt and sat around until the show started. Melody went up front for the start and s.t.u.n. Janelle, Heather and I were sitting on a bench in front of the control booth. Casey and Crawford came, and Casey was bummed that the Used weren't playing, and also that the Vaux werent playing either (our tickets said Vaux because they were printed before the start took over on the tour like a week ago.) I met Melina's Chris for the first time, and he's pretty cool.

TheStart played first, and they were really good. I stood for their set until I heard Gorgeous then i sat down. If they have any more $5 copies of their cd at Wuxtry, I'll get one.

Somewhere in between the end of thestart's set and the beginning of s.t.u.n.'s Melina like rushed over to me and said, "Shaliza! Come here. Alicia Silverstone is here." and i was like, "Huh?" and she said, "There's this girl here, and she looks EXACTLY like Alicia Silverstone. You have to come and tell me if its her." Then Heather said, "Yeah it's probably her because she's dating one of the guys in s.t.u.n." So I walked over into the crowd where her and Chris had been, and she pointed out the girl who she thougth was Alicia. So i waited for a while to see this girl's face, cause all i could see from where i was standing was the back of her head. But then she turned around and sure enough it was Alicia Silverstone. Everyone thought that was pretty nifty. I mean the girl from Clueless, and The Crush, and all of those Aerosmith Videos...there she was in the flesh. She's REALLY short. They must put her in boots and heels in every movie because she never seemed that short to me.

So anyways, I went back and told Heatherwho was there, so i took her around to show her which girl she was. Then Crawford and Casey caught on to it, and Crawford couldn't believe that it was actually her. It's funny cause we were all really fascinated by the fact that she was here. 'Cause who doesn't know who she is.

s.t.u.n. finally went on so i went up front to watch them. They were very interesting. I dont really know how to explain them. You'd just have to see them play I guess. Alicia was jumping up and down and singing and i thought, "wow now everyone is REALLY staring at you." 'Cause once people figured out who she was, they were all looking and whispering. haha. It was like high school or something. One of Chris' friends gave her a copy of his cd, and she gave him a hug. Cute.

Coheed and Cambria were last and they were really good. Claudio's hair is unbelievable. It should have its own 30 minute set. It was so cute, the boys kept saying that they were sorry that the used couldn't come and sorry that they would have to draw out their set, when they're only uesd to playing 30 minute sets. They didn't even seem to play for that long though, and they even did an Iron Maiden cover. A lot of kids stayed to watch them which was good. At least EVERYONE didn't leave.

When their set was done, we all left. It was cool seeing everyone of course. But now I definitely have to go Friday, and I have to get a ticket ASAP because the show will definitely sell out now. Melina, I need a ride to publix! haha.

Even though yesterday wacked out on us, it wasn't a bad day. It was just interesting. Yeah i'm bummed that i couldn't do the interview, but at least I can do it in a few months. And yeah I'm bummed that Quinn got arrested and that the used couldn't play last night, but at least he's out of jail now, and they'll definitely be at the Atlanta show. and yes it sucks that I've been sick since Monday night, and now i have a runny nose and am coughing and stuff, and have to go to this PR thing at Tate for a few hours. And my voice will probably disappear by saturday. But I got to hang out with Heather and see Janelle for the first time since 1982 and it was awesome!

And I saw Alicia Silverstone! haha.
