Bush and Veruca Salt
Monday March 31st- The Omni: Atlanta, GA
This was my very first concert ever! I was 16 years old and I got to see my favorite band (at the time) Bush!  Being 16 and a freshman in high school, I was learning about new music.  Kids in my class seemed to like very different bands, but many people liked Bush, especially the girls.  I remember asking my mother for her credit card so that I could buy the tickets over the phone.  When the tickets arrived in the mail, they were just my pride and joy for the weeks proceeding the show.  Just about every day I would take them out of my drawer and look at them, wondering what the night would be like.  The day of the show, I could barely sit still at school. I told everyone I ran into that I was going to see my favorite band, bush.  I even told my Spanish teacher and she told me to have fun. Lots of other kids from school were going as well. I remember during prayer in Math class, Krista prayed that Gavin would notice her and fall and love with her when he saw her at the show. HA! Wishful thinking.  Krista and I were two of the many girls pining over Gavin.  I had the biggest crush on him! I hated Gewn Stefani for dating him, and just the thought of being in the very same building as him made me sick to my stomach (but in a good way of course) After school I went home and got something to eat. I changed into the clothes Id wear for the show ( I had the outfit picked out for about 3 weeks, jeans, a blue crew neck shirt, and my beige cross colors sneakers. My cousin, Kevin, picked me up around 6 or so and we headed to the Omni.  My seats were pretty high up and I was jealous of all the kids who were on the floor.  I wanted to be that close too. Veruca Salt went on first. Eight Arms to Hold You, had just come out I believe, so I got to hear Volcano Girls, and old favorites like Seether.  In the middle of their set, I sent Kevin to go and buy me a Bush shirt.  There werent many people there for Veruca Salt as I recall, mostly people came after they played. When Bush finally took the stage I was ecstatic! I enjoyed ever song they played, and I loved singing every word. Even though Gavin was far away, I could still see him, and he looked so awesome to me, just standing there. When he did Glycerine by himself that was the best. The show ended around 10 and I left happy and satisfied.  Back then, I never even thought that meeting bands was possible. I didnt meet Bush, nor did I really expect too.  Just being able to see them play in my hometown was such an amazing gift for me, especially since they were by far my favorite band at the time. I remember when I got home, I just stared at my concert shirt and recalled the concert, tried to find images in my head of Gavin playing, and taking those thoughts with me as I went to sleep. It was a great first concert!
