| Melina, Cory and I went to Chattanooga to see Chimaira at the Bay. Melina picked me up @ 3 then we had to go to Cory's house and pick him up. We chilled there for a bit, then got on the road for Tennessee. The drive there seemed to take a while. I think we got there around 7:30. But everyone had to pee so we drove around for the longest time looking for a gas station. They don't like gas stations in Chattanooga apparently since it took forever for us to find one. But we eventually did. We went back to the Bay, and were ready to go in. Now it seems that whenever we go to see Chimaira there's always a problem with the guestlist. So of course there was a problem this time. We weren't on it. The guy at the door said that Chimaira's guestlist was already full. Then this dude asked us who we knew in the band and we said that we knew Mark. So Mark came out and said, "I didn't know you guys were coming today." He hadn't heard Melina when she said that she was planning on coming. He apologized over and over again and said, "i didn't think you guys would actually come here." and we thought "we drove 5.5 hours to Myrtle Beach to see you guys. going to Chattanooga isn't that bad of a drive". The three of us ended up paying for 1 ticket and we got two freebees. Not bad at all, but we felt a little stupid. I feel like we're always bothering Mark. Can't believe he isn't tired of us yet. Anyway, when we had "paid" we sat down by the merch. Mark came over and introduced his girlfriend to us. Melina says that he said her name, but I didn't hear it. Anyway, she seems really nice and sweet. We talked to them for a bit (or should I say Melina did) and then they went inside. When we finally went inside, Hot Wire was on the stage. they were alright I guess. Cory seemed to like them a lot. After them, this band called Time is the Enemy played. One of the guys is Chimairas tattoo artist, and so Mark offered to take them along on tour. They were ok. Didn't really get into them though. Next was 36 crazy fists. Very energetic band, but the lead singer sounds like he is "Baaaa-ing" like a goat when he sings. That can get a little annoying after a while. but the kids really seemed to like them, so whatever. the guitar player was wearing a Shai Halud jersey so he's cool. Hehe. They're from Alaska, which is strange cause you never hear about anyone being from Alaska except for Jewel. After 36 crazy fists was God Forbid, a band with a lot of black people in it. RAWK \m/. They're metal as all hell and they had the crowd going nuts. The two guitar players (who were quite hot by the way) were just insane on their guitars. While they're not a band I think I could listen to everyday, I really appreciate their musicianship and the immense talent they have. Those guys have definitely mastered their instruments and perfected their styles. They did a good set. Last but not least was Chimaira. While we were waiting for them, we saw Elizabeth, so we went over and talked to her. While I was walking over to her, I saw someone pointing at my shirt, and when I saw him he said "GLASSJAW! I LOVE that shirt!" Then other people commented on it. Whenever I wear a Glassjaw shirt, there is always some random person(s) who say something about it. It's cool though. Glassjaw fans of the world unite and take over. hehe. Anyway, we were able to get up front for Chimaira, on the right side, and by the time they started playing, there was a good size crowd to watch them. They were AWESOME. they played SP Lit, Severed, Forced Life, Pass Out of Existence, Painting the White to Gray, In this Present Darkness, Silence, Lumps, Let Go, Jaded, and Dead Inside. Jaded is a song that Mark plays guitar on. I'm sure a lot of people don't know that he can play. As a matter of fact, he plays really well. I'm fairly sure, he's written most of Chimaira's songs. It was cool seeing him play though, 'cause I've never seen him do that on stage. There was this black guy behind me who was sooo into them. He had on a little due rag and looked all thugged out, but he was so into them, so it was kind of weird. But they were awesome as always, this being my 8th time seeing them. At the end of Dead Inside, which they closed with they were tossing out pics and I wanted one, so I just stuck out my hands and Rob tossed one to me. It was a blue one. I wanted a green one dammit. Hehe. Maybe Ill ask Matt for one tonight. At one point during their set, Jim came over to our side and when he saw me he smiled and waved. It's so weird, they only ones that Ive really ever talked to in that band are Mark and Jim. I mean I talked to Chris a little bit the second time I saw them, and some when we were on their RV before they played with Slayer at the Tabernacle last year. But he and the others just must think we're stalkers or something, or perhaps just weird girls who don't say much. Whatever the case, I think one of these days I should at least introduce myself to Matt, Rob, Chris and Andols, just so they know who I am. After Chimaira's set, we just decided to leave. If i had thought about it, I would've gone over to the merch table before we left and asked Mark's girlfriend to thank him for us, that we' see him tomorrow, and ask if they could play Sphere for Melina. | ||||||
