I left for dinner a little after 5, then decided to go downtown. I didn't go directly to the 40 watt though. I first went to this poster store, where i got two keychains, then i went to Wuxtry to look at used cds. When i walked in there, i immediately saw this girl with bright hot pink hair, and i saw this other guy who i thought was jeph at first, because of the hat he had on. Turns out it was Branden, but i didn't discover that until later. I found an advance of the Sparta cd for $2 so i got that. Then i went down to the 40 watt, and it was like 6:45 or something. As I was walking there I saw Bert and some other guy walking towards me making their way downtown. I sat on one of the benches in front of the tattoo parlor. I saw this kid who i had seen a picture of on the Taproot board with Victoria, and i asked him if his name was Brandon. He said yeah. Then we just started talking from there. He goes to UGA and lives in creswell. He has all of these really insane peircings so as you can imagine, he stands out a bit. haha. But he's actually pretty cool. He wasn't going to the show, though. He just hangs around in that area, and its good friends with the guys who work in the tattoo place next to the 40 watt. He hung out and talked to me for a good while, then he said he had to go. He put my name into his cell phone, gave it to me, and said "put in your number and we'll hang out." Haha. Yes sir. So I gave him my number and he left. I talked to some other random people while waiting there. I saw Jeph a bunch of times just walking around, talking on his phone, (or trying to) i don't think he could get a signal. He walked by me when i was standing up against the wall of the tattoo place, so i stopped him and asked if he could sign their cd for me. And he said "of course." talked to him for a little bit and told him that kiddie said that she was jealous that i would get to see him and she wasn't going to for another week. Jeph's a cool guy. I'm not sure when Janelle, Melina and Cory got there, probably at 8 or something. Chris was there too, and so were Lee and Molly. Doors opened a little after 9, and i would've been the first one in but MELINA cut in front of me. Hehe. But its ok...i guess. We went right up to the front and stayed there. There were these two girls next to me, who were pretty cool and i talked to them for a bit. One of them knew Jeremy which was kinda weird. Rhain and Matt came in not too much later with some of their friends. Turns out matt and cory go to the same college, and they had once spoken to each other on campus. it's a small world afer all. So of course the show didn't start until 10, because they have to make you wait an hour first. The first band was vendetta red. and WOW. Even if you didn't like their music, you couldn't deny that their performance was incredible. Actually mostly the performance of the lead singer, who looks EXACTLY like a young Roger Daltrey (from the who) with the skinny legs and tight pants and curly blonde hair. The resemblance was scary. Anyway this guy was just..fucking out of his mind. Dancing and jumping and spinning and kicking and walking on the speakers and swinging from the rafters and singing in our faces and grabbing onto our heads and having convulsions on the stage and just freaking out. It was the wildest thing I've ever seen in my life. Seriously. This guy was just crazy. But he was SOOO much fun to watch, because you werent' really sure what he was going to do next. I couldn't even give a good description of the music, because i was too busy concentrating on him and what he was going to do. But i'd say that musically they were pretty good. I should've gotten their cd, but im sure i can get it online somewhere. After 6 or so songs, Vendetta Red finished their set, and we eagerly awaited The Used. I was excited and scared at the same time. haha. Before they started they had this guy come out to talk about September 11th, and he asked for a moment of silence. Then the boys walked out and opened up with Maybe Memories. Wow their set was SOOO awesome. Even though the singer for Vendetta Red really put on a show, I'd say that the Used as a whole put on an even BETTER show. ALL of them were just going off which was awesome. Bert didn't vomit on any of us, much to our relief. I was bummed that they didn't play Buried Myself Alive or Poetric Tradgedy or Noise and Kisses. But they did play The Taste of Ink, Bulimic, A Box Of Sharp Objects, Blue and Yellow, and Pieces Mended. They ended with Say Days Ago, and I was bummed that their set was over so fast. But they were awesome and I was very happy that i got to see them play. Melina, Cory and I got out of the front after The Used, and we let Rhain and Matt have our place for Andrew W.K. There was no way in hell that i was going to be up front for him. Most of the kids there were like scene kids, and you know how rowdy they can get at shows. I went over to The Used merch table and got a t-shirt, buttons and a patch. Their stuff was pretty cheap which made me happy. Cory left before Andrew W.K. started. And Melina and Janelle left after maybe one or two songs. I stayed to see more though. What can i even say about Andrew W.K? He's a nutcase, genuinely a happy person ALL the time it seems and very grateful for all of his fans. When he came out on stage, the room just erupted in noise. Immediately, kids started getting up on stage and dancing and singing along with him. First it was just a few, then more and more, until the stage was packed with like 20 other people including Andrew and his band. They jumped off the stage and were crowd surfing and going crazy. Girls got on stage and were dancing, people were jumping on Andrew, and a few kids were even lucky enough to have Andrew lift them up on his shoulders. He's a strong guy. Haha. He totally encouraged people to get up on stage with him, and they didn't hesitate in the slightest. It was a constant flood of people on stage and i knew that Rhain and Matt must've been getting knocked about like crazy. This one dude even lifted Andrew up on his shoulder for a while, and the kids went crazy for that. Andrew and his guitar player (the one with the hawaiian shirt and curly dark hair) kept saying what a great crowd they were. I was shocked that so many people knew all the words. It was weird. Instead of a moment of silence for September 11th, Andrew asked for a moment of noise and everyone screamed their heads off. I saw a few people from the station there. The guy that djs before me on Wednesday mornings, Will, was there, and he was standing by me for awhile, like in disbelief of what was going on. Andrew's set was definitely the craziest last night. But I'm glad i got to see it. After a good number of songs, I decided to go outside. The girl who was standing next to me inside came out, and said she was getting so knocked around up front that she had to get out. So i stood with her and talk to her for awhile. Quinn was kinda standing nearby, so i asked him if he could sign their cd for me, and he did. I was wearing my Michael Jackson shirt, and he said it was awesome. Then he said "that's a really exspensive shirt. It goes for like $500 out in California." I was like "really?" how weird is that? Totally funny but totally weird. He siad that bert had a shirt like it. Then I got a picture with him and thanked him for a great show. Next was Bert. I got his autograph too and got a picture with him. And he said that he had my shirt and "I don't care what anyone says. Micahel Jackson is awesome. I love him." haha. Bert is crazy. Then I got Branden to sign my cd, and then i was done. I didn't know when Rhain would be coming out, so i decided that i was just gonna walk back to the dorm. but then i saw Chris and his friend Josh, and Chris offered to take me home so i didn't have to walk. All in all it was a great time. I only got like 5 ours of sleep but thats ok. I'll make up for that tonight |
