Story. This story starts off with our main character, Uzumaki Naruto, a mischievous 12 year old ninja. He causes much trouble, however it is only for attention. All he wishes for is acknowledgement which no one seems to want to give him. In fact, most seem to hate him. On the day of the exam to become a genin (a level of ninja), he totally fails. But one of the teachers, Mizuki, seems to sympathize with him and tells him that if he steals a certain scroll he will be able to learn many powerful techniques. He also reveals the reason why people hate him so much. Years ago a demon fox terrorized the village of Konoha and took the lives of many of those who fought against it (including Naruto's parents). Before his death, the Fourth Hokage (the greatest ninja in the village) managed to defeat the demon and burried the fox's nine tails in the navel of a young baby boy. This boy was Naruto. The whole town was even told to swear that Naruto would never find out about this. The Fourth Hokage had hopes that Naruto would be treated as a hero for bearing the burden of the demon. But the adults held harsh feelings toward the demon fox inside him and passed this hatred along to their children. Naruto does steal the scroll, however Mizuki had different plans for it and plotted to take the scroll for himself once Naruto stole it and leave the blame on Naruto. However, one of Naruto's teachers, Iruka, discovers this and goes to find Naruto. Naruto had already learned one of the skills on the scroll by the time Iruka reached him but Mizuki attacked before Iruka could explain the situation. Naruto, thinking that Iruka was against him, sided with Mizuki until Mizuki tried to take the scroll from him and almost killed Iruka. Using the technique he had learned, Naruto saves Iruka and earns the title of genin as well as acceptance from Iruka who was also made an orphan when the demon fox attacked. This series follows the adventures of Naruto as he trains to become Konoha's next Hokage which will definately take a very long time. It will be interesting to see if he ever does attain his goal. |
