| January 10, 2002 Violent Phlegms 7 Heavy Petting Zoo 9 Attendance: Missing were Fred, Marty, Bill, Jen and Ross. Pat Gilmour played his first game in months. Pete's tall brother Bokhdar made a welcome appearance. The punishment for truancy is still being contemplated. The horror! After a close game for the first few points, we surged ahead to a 7-4 lead. It was in the bag! And then...chokeville. And to top it off, the other team was...nice. We could have tied it on the last point but failed to do so. What can be said? Despite the loss, we played well, at least for the first eleven pulls. There were quite a few turnovers in the game for both sides as throws and catches went this way and that. The downturn for us occurred shortly after Danny's groin-pull injury. Aside from that, the game was fairly uneventful. A pick was called on Colin that likely didn't occur (see it in the pictures and Forum). Often a smaller squad like ours does better than expected, but we missed some experience and athletecism with our teammate's absence. The next time such a choke occurs, we will have to do a group Heimlich manouvre before further damage ensues. Our cheer reflected our self-flagellating mood. But in the meantime, long live the Phlegms!
