I finally feel like I've got one over on the big boys.

Have you seen the price match promises and the like the big retailers make "We will beat anyones price,   Guaranteed lowest or the diffence back etc." ? Well if you look in to these things you usually find the difference is 1p or the washing machine or whatever you are buying has a 16 digit model number and the last digit is different in each store.So you get the "Oh yes sir the supadeluxe prp12546 ultra e model £249. 98 you wont find it cheaper,  Er I think its £229. 98 up the road mate with your price promise can you sell me that and give me an extra 50% of the difference back as well? " at this point the assistant smirks and informs you of the anomally in the model number. Totally deflated you walk out of the shop thinking everyone is looking at you like some sort of tightfisted money grabber.

After much searching I bought my daughter a laptop and guess what I won the battle of the price promise. Dixons Warehouse were doing a beat the price and 50% of the difference back. This is how it worked. Their price £400, I found it at PC World £350 (3 day offer) I inform the assistant who checks it all out model numbers, stock availability, distance away the lot, after a while she quietly says  "Yes you are right sir, that means we can do it for you today for £325"  I trundle out of the store with my head held high carrying my 'prize'. I can tell you that feeling was worth every sly look every shop assistant has ever given me.

Ha Ha Ha The little guy wins !!!
