Hello 10

Right then now that I know that someone may actually be reading this (many thanks to Sean for commenting) I will have to think a little more carefully before posting.

In the news lately there has been much talk of school closures and falling birth rates being the cause. I feel rather concerned as to the handling of this matter by local government.

Common sense tells me that if you close a school and build a large housing estate on the grounds of said school then this increase in housing stock will lead to an increase in the required school places from children living in the new houses. Am I missing something here? are these councils actually working from a different set of rules or do they know something I don't. I speak from experience here by the way, one of our local schools was closed a few years back. Houses were built. I had to appeal to get the eldest into secondary school less than a mile away.

Here's an idea for you lot in the council offices. Allow building on a bit of green belt land. 90% of the UK is green belt land but 90% of the population lives in urban areas. Oh no, sorry that won't work will it because most of the polititians form some of the 10% that live on the 90% green belt.   Not on our doorsteps.........
