Hello 34
photo

So it was Fathers day on Sunday as I found out when I was sternly warned by the wife to return to bed as the fruits of my loins were in the middle of preparing my breakfast and would be bringing it to me upstairs.

A photo marks the occasion as luckily the camera bag is kept under the bed probably for security reasons but more likely because thats where I left it after uploading the last batch of photos to my laptop.

You will note the effort that has gone into preparing this plate and the rather topical for the moment football theme.  I support Aston Villa by the way, actually that is too strong a word, I follow their progress with more interest than any other team is more accurate. This elegant presentation gave me a reason not to eat rather fortunately as just as I was going to take a mouthfull Eldest informed me that that he had cut the crusts off  as the bread used was, how do I put this, past it's sell by date. They had also neglected to butter as they told me this would have made cutting the required shapes too difficult.

The mug of tea went down very well however and indeed I would be mortified if any child of mine could not produce a decent brew.

They bought me a bottle of Jack Daniels as well, the standard all occasion present for me in our household. This probably will not last as long as it should and certainly won't stretch to the next gift receiving date.

Thanks Kids.  Love You All

It's just as well that you don't support Borussia Monchengladbach (of the Bundesleage)* or your kids would have had RSI from cutting out all that bread.

Enjoy your JD.

* I'll come clean - I had to Google for a long team name - this is not the sort of information I have readily to hand.

That's lovely. My kids have never brought me breakfast in bed. In fact, they tend not to surface until they sense lunch.

I'm sure they were sweet once...

I shouldn't complain too much. I did get a good bottle of Malt. Which I have not yet opened due to the strange evaporation that takes place whenever I open my Malts.

I have a charming image of your young wards buying the Jack Daniels themselves now, while the cashier sniffs and decides they're "probably 18" ...

I vaguely recall my children bringing us breakfast in bed once [many years ago] ... now all I get is a mention on a blog ....

I prefer Lavagulin to Jack Daniels t be honest though whisky of any sort is always a bit of a pick me up ....

You're about the same with Villa as I am with Derby ... I vaguely remember the Villa fans having a charming chant which rhymed something about 'strollin' along the prom' with 'F**k off, West Brom' - they knew how to write football songs in those days. Please feel free to delete this comment if you think the wrong people may read it Stu.
